You will do great!  You made a great surgery choice, and you have a fantastic surgeon.  The first few days will be tough. I pray a speedy and uneventful recovery for you!

My starting BMI was over 60 as well.  I am almost 5 weeks post op from the DS and am doing well.  My time in the hospital was easier than my first couple days at home, but overall I'd say my recovery wasn't too bad.  Just remember that it does get easier...even when it feels like it doesn't!

I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery!

Dr. K. never told me about losing a pound a day - I'm sure he must be talking about the first month?  But, turns out I've lost 38lbs and my one month mark is 3/23 from when I weighed in at his office post op.  Would be wonderful if my 2nd month was as fabulous but won't be holding my breath.

You're going to do great!

I cant remember the time frame he said exactlly , i thought he said the first couple months , that the avarage loss is a pound a day. But honestly I cant say the time frame for certin just that he said that. Thats a Fantastic Loss Debbie , did you have laporscopic? or Open ? just curious ? I know I am haveing open beacuse of my sleep apnea , Dr.K is awsome I havent read a post from a disatisfied patiatant yet :)  You where a revision right ? My mother is going to get a revision with him from her RNY (she has big problems with sugers and has gained back alot not all but alot) she is just waiting till i am healed up and then shes getting it, did you notice a change instantly? Like if you where haveing dropping or animia problems did those go away right away? or is it still to early to feel the real diffrence?

Thanks everyone for the positive support !!

Yes, I had a revision from an RNY to DS and it was open - the differences are positive and quite different from the RNY.  Not as much restriction, pouch is gone and tummy is  alittle bigger.  Food tastes better to me.  I'm only a month out and the first 3 weeks were miserable, I'm not going to lie but I'm beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel.  No more dumping because there's no more pouch, but I'm not eating anything that would cause dumping.  Bathroom is better, no runs like I use to have everyday.  Your Mom will be really happy with the change!
