Not Losing Weight Like I Thouht I would...

Hi Meilyne,

Your just a slow loser, just like I was.  At my heaviest I was also 470lbs, and when i had my surgery i was 350lbs.  I was also very discouraged to see others dropping weight so fast and eating alot more calories than I was.  But I didn't give up and kept eating around 1000-1500 calories a day, exercising as much as I could.  I never did reach my personal goal of 175, i stay around 195lbs and have maintained that for over a year and a half.  .  I also retain water, but I just keep drinking lots of  H20 and avoid all kinds of salt  (i even rinse my tuna).

So please don't give up!!  Since my weight loss I met a wonderful man and got married.  I work over 60 hrs a week, my knees don't bother me anymore and I actually enjoy going to the gym and working out.  I am planning on having plastic surgery done,( i bet i have at least 15lbs of excess skin;/fat), so I should get closer to my goal!!

This may sound odd, but I am grateful I didn't lose so fast during my honeymoon phase because I might not have learned to eat properly.  I accept i have a very slow metabolism and work hard everyday to maintain my weight loss.  Wouldn't have it any other way!!!!

Thank you Toni for your post.

I am seeing a personal trainer twice a week and surprisingly finding myself enjoying it. And I rinse my tuna as well LOL.

Sodium is the big culprit and it's always the first thing I look at on the nutritional panels and very careful with what I put into my mouth.

It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this though and that there isn't anything wrong with me.

Are you still retaining water now?

OMG.. someone else who rinses their tuna. I thought I was the only one that did that.  And sadly to say, I still have fluid retention issues.  If I consume more Sodium than normal, and not drink as much, i notice i don't urinate often.  The  next day, i am not surprised to see the scale up a pound or two.  I don't get stressed over it cause I know once i get my water intake back up, the water weight will come off again.  I don't take any diuretics, I just keep my sodium down, and drink lots of water.

All I can say is.. don't give up... get ur protein and  water in and keep up with the personal trainer (is he cute?  hehehe).   This is a lifelong journey, enjoy the ride!  I know I am!

I bought some protein powder and have been doing protein shakes all week and when I got on the scale today I had gained 2lbs. Very frustrating. I was being very careful this week too which makes it doubly frustrating.

Re the trainer .. I have 2 actually - my pilates trainer is Mike and he is cute but he's also very gay - my circuit trainer is Jennifer and surprisingly I am really enjoying the circuit trainer even though I sweat and pant like crazy.
