4 month surgiversay!

I thought it was tomorrow and was really hoping to be at 70 lbs lost since surgery...but I will take the 69 for today!

My weight loss has been slowing down a lot...makes me sad :(  But 69 lbs in 4 months...I'll take it.

At 2 months I lost 45, 3 months 55, and 4 months 69.  I did better this month than last month but I had to have another surgery last month for adhesions and it slowed me down alot.

Can't wait to hit the 100 mark!  I am down 115 from my highest weight.

I shared my weight with my husband the other day.  He never knew what I weighed.  I was at 400 when we got married.  I looked like a different person.  My mind still has not caught up with my weight loss.  I still feel about the same size.  Wonder when it will hit me?

That is so great!  You must notice in clothes and stuff.  I notice in walking.  I had mine a few weeks before you.  I count my total since the first time I weighed at the bariatric surgery clinic.  I'm down 116 from my highest weight, 88 since the first visit to the clinic (I had lost some on optifast).   We are in a similar place.  AND I married at 400 too, ten years ago!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

Congratulations!  I count all of my weight loss not just since surgery.  I figure it all counts!

If you also had an additional surgery I would say you have done just wonderful.

I also agree that I cannot tell the difference in my mind with my size.  Maybe that's how I got so big to begin with?  I didn't really understand my size?  I hope both of our minds catch up soon so we can celebrate all of our success.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!  We're nearly surgery sisters, just a few days apart :)

Like the previous poster, I count my weight lost before surgery too.  Since surgery I've lost 66.2, so I'm guessing that where we're at is actually pretty normal/average for being 4 months out.  Did you experience a full stall at all?  While I've had some weeks where I only lose 2 lbs or so, which feels uber slow to me (my how perspective changes lol), I haven't officially stalled.  Where's some wood I can knock on?  LOL

Have you done comparison photos?  I don't see the loss until I put a before pic next to a new pic.  I have to look at those regularly b/c it's so easy to get down looking in the mirror.

Anyway, congrats again!  It's such a wild ride!

Kim... you are doing great.. 69 lbs since surgery.. that is wonderful..

I had surgery on the 23rd. a few days after you and I have only lost 33lbs.. they say the loss is so slow because I lost 67lbs on the supervised diet..I was only eating 800 calories then for 9 months and my metabolism got used to that.. so now after surgery the loss is slow..  With the 67 before surgery and the 33 after I have hit the 100lb mark on the nose.. it feels great.. but that was March 1st and I am in a stall now.. I started counting my weight from my very first weigh in at the surgeons office before I started the supervised diet.. That was my highest weight ever.. From that day I am down 100 lbs.. if I only counted after surgery I would be a totally depressed person only loosing 33lbs in almost 4 months.. so look at the bigger picture..

I started at 303 lbs but I am only 4'10" so that made my BMI 63. I am now 203 lbs and the BMI is 42... I am happy with my surgery and learning to deal with the slow loss .. do not be sad with a slow loss. you have 2 years to loose.. you do not have to loose it all right away.. yes it is faster at the beginning but the loss will continue.. the hardest part of all this is having patience.. we all are looking for immediate results.. you will get to where you want to be.. it is not a race to see who gets there first.. if it was I would be in trouble.. lol.... so look for positives other than the numbers on the scale.. there are many..

huggs..

Thanks everyone for your nice responses...

To answer Michelle - I did a have big stall at first.  I lost 24 lbs in the first 2 weeks and then didn't lose another pound until 3 weeks later.

I did the same thing -- it really shook me up, but now I am feeling pretty comfortable. I guess my aim is 100 pounds by 6 months, assuming I can make that happen if you know what I mean.

69 in 4 months sounds pretty good to me.

I have to say it really helps me to look at photos of myself to compare -- otherwise it is hard to see other than the wrinkles under my chin.

Way to go Kim, keep up the hard work as it's clearly paying off. Maybe it's time for a new avie?
