You'll find that a lot of things don't work, but then someday they suddenly will, then again another day they won't. Most pouches are fussy that way. If something doesn't work- then don't eat it for a while and try it again in a few weeks.
As far as the toast goes, you don't need to be eating carbs this early out anyway......

*oh and I am 7mo out and I still don't eat fruit cuz it has too much sugar (tho natural) for me.

All I can say is keep trying stuff.

It took a really long time before I could handle chicken. I still have issues with some processed food.

Early out, I remember going to Arby's thinking I'd just eat the roast beef off a sandwich and I couldn't swallow more than one bite of what they call meat.

Try beans, hummus, turkey worked for me for some reason, no sugar added applesauce. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking it slow.

Best of luck!

I didn't bother much with fruit or veggies until more recently.  And even now (nearly six months out), I don't eat them much.  I ate sf applesauce at first, and an occasional half apple juice (4 oz), half water, but I really focus (and still do) on the protein.  Carbs are easy - they are in LOTS of things, including fruit and veggies.  Toast?  The only time I bother with it at all is when I'm having a poached egg on a half piece!

The coffee and tea don't add much either, caffeine is hard on your healing pouch!  I drink Swiss Miss sf hot cocoa or carnation instant breakfast with milk.  (milk has 10 gr protein in 8 oz).   It will come - just be patient.  Keep trying things and chew and eat slowly.   I've had very few problems - but you also have to follow your doctor recommendations.  Good luck - - you are on your way!
