April 6th is my surgery date

Hi All   I have my surgery date April 6th. Please tell me what i should take to the hospital and what I should be doing till I have surgery.  I have the 2 week liquid diet begining March 23rd.  Pre-op for hospital is March 23rd and with my doctor on April 1st. What questions should I ask?  Thanks for any information you can give me.

Congratulations on getting your date! If you have a cpap machine you will probably need to take that with you. Besides that you will be so busy sipping little 1oz cups of water there won't be time to do much else lol

If you can, try to do some walking, but most importantly start breathing deeply. You will need to do that after surgery to help get the anesthesia out of your lungs. The stronger you are going in, the better it will be for you during and after surgery.

Ask your dr about the first steps you will be needing to take after surgery like your post op diet and activity levels. you will be seeing the surgeon pretty soon following the surgery, so you just need the information about what you should be doing until the follow up visit. Find out if you will be leaving with a drain and the information about care for your incision sites and the drain if you will have one.

All I needed when I was in the hospital was 1 thing, CHAPSTICK! All of the other stuff I brought the hospital provided. But I did have my favorite pillow that came in handy.
