I am thankful my temporary gains throughout the week did not stick:

Starting Weight: 388
Last Week: 255
Today: 255

8:30 and have 54 grams of protein in already. I am drinking like a fish today because I can tell I'm dehydrated.

Everyone have a wonderful day!

Argh, I'm stuck too! Another week at 240, but on the upside my pants are much roomier so I am at least losing inches. Which I know I should be happy about (and I am) but darn that scale!

Today's Weight - 291.0

I lost 1.4 lbs.  Was looking forward to loosing more because the last 2 weeks I only lost 2 lbs. I can tell I am retaining water, even though I am getting in at least 64 oz.  (sometimes more)

Hopefully next week will be better.

Have a great week everyone!

Thanks,

Kim

I had been on a plateau for quite some time. Bouncing around the same 5lbs for a couple of months. My surgeon gave me a kick in the ass, which I desperately needed.

I saw him the other week and he was disappointed. He said that given my starting weight, I should be 20lbs lighter than I am now. If I were to continue on the path that I was on I would NEVER reach my goal weight, nor would I even get close.

The kick in the ass was EXACTLY what I needed. I've let carbs creep back into my house and into my mouth. I had stopped measuring and stopped tracking my intake, I've been lollygagging in the work out department and I've been lazy about my protein, fluid and vitamin intake. I had been skipping my support group meetings.

I'm squandering this valuable gift that I have given myself and I am letting the honeymoon period pass me by wasted.

Although I was not infallible this week, I have tracked most days, made my protein intake all days and am still working on getting all the vits in. I worked out 5 days last week and even had a day where I burned 525 calories in one work out in which I did 10 mins on the stair master AFTER doing 30 mins on the elliptical machine before I did nautilus equipment. I survived although I felt like I had been hit by a mack truck the next day.

Right now I know it's all about refocusing on the basics to make myself successful in the present.

Really? He was disappointed with an avg. 18lbs lost a month? Really? I find that surprising....

No kidding... this really surprised me!  Is your start weight different than what your surgery day weight??  Trying to make sense out of it here.  I've lost an average of 17 lbs per month and my surgeon was very happy with how I'm doing.

I'm glad you're making changes that help you work the program better, I'm just sorry it had to be because of your surgeon speaking to you that way.  If it works for you, great, but wow - I would not have reacted very well to his lecture.

But my surgeon was right.

I had slacked off. I was eating crap I shouldn't. I wasn't tracking and I had been bouncing around the same 5lbs for about 2 months. I was lazy at the gym.

I've lost about 70lbs total. About 20 of that was pre-surgical and the other 50 was post-op so I've lost a bit more than 12 pounds a month post op. My starting BMI was almost 52.

I'm super happy to have a surgeon who takes an active interest in my ultimate success. I would much rather have a surgeon who holds me accountable than someone who runs an assembly line surgery business where they chunk out tiny tummys and don't give a crap how sucessful you ultimately are.

He was respectful and honest. I did not feel like I had been "lectured". I'm VERY pleased with him.

I wish I had gotten the kick in the ass earlier.

That's great!  I'm glad you have a good relationship with him and it helped.  From your original post it looked like you had lost 70 lbs since your surgery date, which is why we were confused and a bit shocked :)

Her surgeon only wants his patients to get 600 calories a day until they get to goal.

I think that's a little unrealistic for people with higher BMIs, but I'm not a doctor or nutritionist.
