Finally, the scaled moved again!

I will be 6 weeks out on Wednesday and was stalled by 3 weeks. I stayed off the scale for a week after major frustration with it as I had gone down to 336.2 and back up to 338 (which I know isn't that much considering my size, but it was upsetting nevertheless), but this morning I am down to 331.6 -- less than 2 pounds from using that Wii Fit!  It is less weight than I would have hoped to lose in 3 weeks, but my total for almost 6 weeks is almost 34 pounds which seems pretty reasonable.

I saw the surgeon last week and she suggested that I should up my aerobic exercise any time I stall for two weeks. So that is what I have been trying to do.

I did spend some time trying to focus on the positives while I was stalled, but it took a good week to be able to do much of that. I think I need to re-orient my thought process toward the idea that I will lose for two weeks and stall for two weeks as I go through my female cycling . . . that is what I did pre-surgery in the past, so it wouldn't be unusual, I don't think, for that to restart.

So here are my positives:

1) We lost power for a few days in a recent storm and I learned that not only can sleep without being hooked up to my bipap, I didn't snore! I did sleep in a chair to be safer, but still, no snoring and no waking up with a start and kicking my legs all night.

2) A bunch of friends on Facebook encouraged me to get some smaller clothing. I bought for spring with the thought of shrinking into the clothing . . . but they fit now! That means my top is four sizes smaller and my bottom 3. I found this out a few days ago, which helped me dealing with the NOT getting on the scale and frustrating myself. I bought two sweaters too so I can actually wear the tops now with sweaters. I even bought a shirt on sale at Wal*Mart and had it fit.

3) I can feel my jaw bone and my cheeks no longer hide my ears. If I wear earrings, they can be seen from the front (the negative is that my neck looks like a prune and I can pinch skin and have it stay for a few seconds, even though I am not dehydrated . . . I have been using a Neckline Slimmer which actually does seem to help, other than skin being so stretched out).

4) I can walk around stores and not get out of breath. I still have trouble with my knees if I do too much, but I always have when I weigh over 300.

5) I went to the theatre to see my son in a play and fit in the seat comfortably.

I am much happier today, seeing the scale move too!

:-)

I love how you refocused your positives *away* fro the scale! Great for keeping your attitude up!

And I have NO IDEA the weight limit for Wii Fit was 330!! I swore it was 300!! I was working towards 300 to reward myself with one...I may do it sooner now!

All very good things! Congrats!!!

Oh Bec, these are all wonderful rewards for the work you've been doing!  I think we all understand about the stalls, yep, they can really take the wind outta our sails.  But YOU, have done a fabulous job of shifting your focus to the positives!  I'm gonna try to take a leaf outta your book next time my scale doesn't move!  Take good care!  connie

I am so happy for you and very proud of the positive attitude.. it is hard when you are in a stall to stay positive.. I didn't.. I had to get on here and get encouragement.. I tried to think positive and that worked eventually but at first I was really down and almost out.. OH friends made a big difference for me..

Congrats on the accomplishments.. every wow moment is such a great mood enhancer.. there are many many more to come.. keep up the good work and keep racking them up..

I think you will like the wii fit.. I have the wii fit plus and I love it.. I do about 45 minutes to an hour and set the calories to burn at 230.. I am getting ready to raise that.. it has made a big difference in my loosing patterns..

huggs..

You know, I might be wrong, but I wouldn't consider it a stall @ 6 weeks. You are still recovering from surgery, that takes time. You are doing really great in my humble little opinion :)

Bec, you have such a great attitude! The scale is only one gauge of health -- and an unreliable gauge at that! It Will budge -- if your calories are down and your exercise is up it has to. But it does so in its own weird way. I'm glad you saw that and found so many ways that your surgery has been a success!
