Curbing my Carb Addiction
It isn't easy. I have such a strong addiction to carbs, it's pathetic. But I want to take advantage of this tool, so I've caught myself. Here is what I've done, and I think it's working again.
1. Stopped allowing myself to graze on a cracker here, a cookie there, etc. during the day. NO snacks, unless planned and/or have a protein component.
2. Upped my movement, incorporating a bit extra walking at work (around in the building) and riding my stationary bike.
3. Am eating more protein. Including a daily protein shake again. Very satisfying and lasts a long time.
These 3 changes have helped me get back on track. Hoping the scale sees it!!!

Hey Mary, sounds like you have a great plan in place. I too am a carb addict. I've decided I don't want to have breads, pastas, white potatoes, or rice in my diet anymore. I do enjoy carbs like Flat Out wraps, oatmeal, and crackers because they seem easier for me to control and I get that "carb flavor." Crackers I have to be very careful with - if they're salty I find I want to keep munching. I've been using Wasa crackers (just one, which is very large, is only 30 cal) to put laughing cow cheese on. I made a spinach and artichoke dip with cream cheese and cottage cheese yesterday and I plan to put bits of that on the Wasa cracker. The crackers pretty much have zero flavor, but when you really want something with a crunch and need a delivery method for something soft, they work great!
Ok, I'm rambling lol Just wanted you to know you're not alone! Hugs!

Very good ideas! I'm going to do some of that, too. I know just what you mean about delivery system! Yesterday I did SO much better. I did have one minor slip-up, but I'm determined today. I want my weight OFF!!!! My doctor's goal is reasonable, and I want to make it.

Here for you Mary, I started the day off with a protein shake, getting my head back on straight again and back on track. We can and will do this together. Hugs

Thanks, Kathy!! It is working pretty well. I've upped activity - riding the bike every day. I'm not "grazing" on bad carbs. I am upping my protein, too. All helps and I already feel the difference. GLAD your with me. I've been doing the protein shake thing, too!
