Anyone else experienced this?
I was wondering, has anyone ever experienced numbness in your outer thigh area? I've been waking up nights with severe numbess, and fire burning pain when I try to move it.
Several doctors have told me its a condition called meralgia parastetica. I finally made an appointment with the neurologist, and he named it the same thing. I'm going back to his office for nerve testing next week.
Has anyone else experienced this before WLS? And did it go away after?
I had some issues with my legs and my right arm going numb preop. But I never did go to see the doctor about it -- mostly because it would go away if I made an effort to walk more than usual or rolled over in bed (in the case of my arm).
The numbness went away once I started exercising regularly and had some lost some weight.
Best of luck.

Hi,
I have that too. They call mine meralgia paresthetica and said it was from my weight and wearing tight waist bands and that it should go away after weight loss. I've lost 118 lbs and it's better but not gone yet. Mine hurts when on my feet too long, like walking in malls, stores, etc. Never hurts lying down, but is always numb. When it hurts, the only thing that relieves it is sitting down for a bit.
