I have a date...and this one's different
Wow I am glad to see some of you have met your SigOT online, I have been pretty cynical about the idea. I certainly have been managing expectation going up to our meeting, so neither of us feel pressured.
As for the meeting in a safe place, you are talking to the Queen of conservative. Not only will it be a public place, and I of course will have my own car. I have armed my best friend with all of his info including pics. And did I mention a public records check.
And I will keep y'all posted. And Rhonda I will share details (well within reason).
I met my husband online as well. He jokes that he won me in an auction on E-bay.
There's no shame in it. I've never been comfortable with meeting someone at a bar -- I don't drink and don't need to be with a drunk (with my luck I'd find one). Where I live is so rural that hobbies and activities are kind of limited. I even dragged myself back to church and decided that wasn't the best way to meet guys -- you really have to be there for a higher purpose.
It's funny, my parents met through a computer dating service in 1967 or 68. It runs in the family I guess.
I did Match dot com and my husband was the second guy I met face to face. (The first turned out to be a workaholic Nazi. And there was another guy but he stood me up for the face-to-face twice, so I figured he was up to no good.)
I'm sure you'll have a great time, especially if you and he don't feel pressured.
