Hello Imaybenuts (?)
For the life of me, I can't quite figure out what you are asking about.

But I wish you good luck!

I like Chike - they have website: Chike.com.  I also like sugar-free carnation instant breakfast with low fat or fat free milk.

I have no idea what your stages are, since many programs are different.  They should tell you what they mean by those numbers.

Hi Imaybenuts,

Welcome to BMI over 50.

I was sleeved on October 20th.  Everyone's plans are different depending on their doctor.  But in my plan, I went home from the hospital on stage 3, which for me was clear liquid and I had to do that until I saw my doctor at the 2 weeks followup visit.  That was just SF popsicles, jello and chicken and beef broth basically and all the water you can get in.  My favorite beverage is Powerade Zero; flavored water wtih electrolytes.  I'm not a fan of plain water.

Stage 4 for me was moist and pureed food.  In my program we did not have to puree in a food processor as long as we practiced mindful eating (tiny bites the size of eraser at the end of a pencil and chew at least 30 times before swallowing).  My favorites at this time were greek yogurt (I like Chobani), egg beaters, low fat cheese (cheese sticks are a good snack), 90% hamburger.  Things need to be moist so for the burger I would do a tiny burger in the microwave with a dollop of fat free ricotta cheese and a small amount of Classico tomato sauce (this one is the one I found has the least cals and sugar of what I saw in the supermarkets here).  I also liked to use the Perduce Short Cuts chicken and each packet I could get 4 meals out of it.  At this time, I was told to get 60 to 70 grams of protein.

I just moved to stage 5, which in my program is called ongoing, about 2 or so weeks ago.  Basically, now I could eat whatever I wanted.  But, alas, my stomach cannot handle some foods.  I am beginning to believe my new stomach does not like pasta since that has made me sick both times I tried it since going to stage 5.  They told me to slowly introduce foods one at a time and if something does not agree with me to back off and try it again later.  So pasta I think has got to go because it had its second chance.  I am not a big recipe user because I have always just liked simple foods and do alot of cooking a la microwave.  But there are good recipes on eggface.com and bariatriceating.com to name 2.

As far as protein supplements, I like the Inspire line from bariatriceating.com.  You can use the plain, no flavor one to add to food and drinks to up the protein and it does not change the taste of the food.  Also, they have some very interesting flavors like peanut butter fudge and things like that.  They have some good ones that taste good in decaf coffee like capacino latte.

One thing for sure, get some Pepcid.  My doc says to take twice a day for at least 6 months to avoid ulcers.  I use generic omeprazole from Wal-Mart.  Since I started stage 5 I am upchucking more than ever.  I am finding a lot of things are not agreeing with me and do best when I stay bland.  But the omeprazole helps.

If you have any more specific questions ask away, there is a pretty good bunch of people on this board.  I know it can be very overwhelming at the beginning.

You are gonna do just fine! Follow what your surgeon tells you and enjoy the journey!

Our tastes are all different-myself-I never found a protein shake I really liked. I did find that if I added a bit of s/f jello to mix in with just about any vanilla powder with a ton of ice and water I could tolerate it.

As for recipes-check out the recipe forum/board-there are a lot of good recipes there for all different stages of diet. Best wishes to you!
