Got INK????

Soooo many cool ideas!!! I love em!!!

I have 3 so far...LOL!! I got a blue bird when I got out of my abusive relationship back in '95; I have a monarch butterfly and ladybugs on my back when my grandmother died and during her wake, in the midst of my disbelief, a lady bug appeared out of no where and landed on me, almost as if comforting me. And finally, when my mom died of breast cancer almost 4 years ago, my sister and I got identical "strength" symbols in hot pink-because our mom was so brave throughout her ordeal.

Onward towards my goal, I'm now looking for something symbolic that defines my journey-where I've been and where I'm almost at...and especially where I do NOT ever want to be again.

Sounds like you all have some wonderful ideas!!

Keep em coming, friends!!

I am planning to get the date of my surgery in roman numerals.  I originially thought about on the inside of my left wrist.  I want to be able to see it, but would be able to cover it with a watch or cuff if needed.  I'm still trying to figure out ideas for locations and have been playing with different fonts on the computer.  But I think a tattoo is a great way to commerate the beginning of the journey.

at some point im planning on gettting a phoenix.. there are so many designs an u can go for something simple, an ful l of strength or ornate an girlie... i will most likely go for something very colorful an girlie.. even tho my life pre-op i was far from feminine but since surgery an losing weight an feeling better about myself.. hormones etc.. im in a VERY girlie mood...  but anyhow i love the meaning behind the phoenix.. i think most of u will too..

All nice ideas!  I don't personally like tattoos.. but I do celebrate my journey's milestones (losses and dedication) by collecting gemstone, gold and silver jewelry with butterfly motifs :)

Love & Hugs!

Hope no one gets offended by this...

I have been thinking about this too. I have always wanted a tattoo, just not sure where.

I have decided to get a really fat girl on my butt and as I shrink - she will too... :)

Not really going to do that but the ideas you guys have are really good...something to think about.

Love your tattoo Michelle!

I was thinking of a tat too.... I am thinking of a blue butterfly..blue ones are  the symbol of changing to good health..

I love the butterfly tat idea also because.. as you will see my quote in my signature says The caterpillar has to have the faith of a butterfly in order to change..   You see a catapillar only lives for a short time as an ugly looking catapillar and then has to build a cacoon for himself and wrap himself up in it as for the old self to die with the faith that he will change and reappear to the world as a beautiful butterfly..

I feel like I am changing with my journey like the ugly caterpillar with the faith I will someday be the emerging butterfly..

good luck in making a choice that is special for your change.. lots of good ides on here..

huggs..

I have a tattoo that I had done about 1.5 years out.  The three stars inside the moon represent 100 pounds lost for each star.  Then, my surgery date is underneath. When I had it done, I was almost to 300 pounds gone but I wasnt going to go through all that pain again to add one star so I put faith in myself and had them all put on lol.  Now, just over two years out I am down 325 pounds and have earned all my stars!

I dont post much but my tattoos have a very special meaning to me! The butterfly represent the transformation that i have gone through and underneath it says life is beautiful in Italian. It helps remind me where i came from and to realize that yes, life is indeede beautiful!
