WOW! Down my first 100!

I got on the scale today, two weeks post-op, and I have lost almost 26 pounds since surgery. Add that to my 75-pound pre-surgery loss and I am down 100 pounds!

I'm excited! It doesn't look like much of anything yet, but it is a start. Technically, it would take another 200 to be "insurance weight" but I am not really expecting that much . . . if I can get there, great, but I am mostly just aiming for healthy even if that is still a little chubbier than the charts say I should be.

"Insurance weight" is the one-size fits all weight that is on the insurance company weight charts that you see posted in doctor's offices. The ones that don't take into account bone structure and such. I am not sure getting skinny is really in my future -- I'll take it if it comes my way, but mostly I want healthy and comfortable.

I am going to look at some clothes and considering buying something a couple of sizes smaller for spring, but I am a bit of a cheapskate so we will see if I actually do that!

Congratulations!!! Way to work your tool and stay focused!  Im sure it feels wonderful to realize that accomplishment!!! That's so AWESOME!

Personally, my goal is 'insurance weight" (120) and a little below that (115) since I  have a small bone structure... however, I often think how much easier and how much closer to goal I would be to adjust that number to an "acceptable to me" goal weight... but nope... I'm not ready to go there yet in my head.  I used to do that all the time.. change my goals to reflect my excuses and failures... as if that somehow made it okay?!?... which really meant that I was giving up on myself... but I have vowed not to do that anymore... yet another of my personal struggles these days.  Anyhow....

Super Duper Congratulations again!  Im so happy for you!

Love & Hugs....

I think my husband wants me to adjust my goal to insurance weight, but I think I would definitely require a lot of skin removal to get there. I am not yet sold on the idea of removing excess skin, but maybe it is because I am fresh out of surgery and figure the tummy tuck is probably harder.

I guess I am worried about being realistic too . . . the surgery I did usually helps people remove 75-80% of their extra body weight, and that is the number I went with as a goal. I think I would like to surpass the goal, but I don't want to set myself up to fail. Mind games I play with myself, I guess!

Mind Games, indeed!  Bottom line is you have to be happy and comfortable with yourself.  The whole skin thing freaks me out to no end.  And just this morning my man joked not to catch wind with my bat wings today... long story short.. just wanted one last wear out of a sleeveless top that I put over a turtle neck today.. the arm holes are probably way too droopy.. but I really liked this shirt.. and didn't have anything else that was brown to wear with my pants today.  I have gone to a few support group meetings that plastic surgeon's spoke at.. and the before and after pictures are amazing... At this point I am trying to wrap my brain around a future arm (skin) reduction, breast lift and tummy tuck.  I still have a long ways to go.. but think that these will be in my future if I am to get down to goal weight.  I am doing as much as I can in terms of exercising, skin tightening lotions, water and protein intake and vitamin supplements for muscles and skin elasticity.. but, I wish I could have the plastics today because if I flap my arms hard enough.. I am liable to actually take flight!  Can you tell that patience is NOT one of my virtues?!?... Love & HUGS,

LOL! I'm not super patient either. Have you tried any of the spandex type things to hold stuff in place. I haven't decided what I feel about that kind of thing yet. I am used to floppy clothing, so I wonder if it might bug me. I did see something that was just for arms though and it did make me wonder and I am sure mine will flap in the breeze -- so waiving motion needed!

I did ask my dermatologist about skin cremes and such. She said that vitamin C was pretty much the only one proven to help tighten things up, which may work for my lower arms, but she expected most of everywhere else would require plastic surgery to fix. Right now my chin is pretty funny, as I can pinch it and have it stay (yet I am not dehydrated, it just seems like I lost weight really fast under my face).

What do you take for supplements? If you don't mind sharing, that is  . . . :)
