I know you're serious. But I can't resist sharing...

Your post made me think of the time I was at the grocery store using one of those automatic check out machines. The machine kept telling me there was an "unexpected item in the bagging area." I'm looking around -- nothing I can see.

Then I realized IT WAS MY PANNI!

I'm ready to name mine. But I'm at a loss for a name.

I swear, if my  insurance won't pay to get this thing cut off when I'm closer to goal, I'm going to start trying to intentionally giving myself a skin infection. Anyone have any spare flesh eating bacteria they can share?

(By the way, I have heard of people getting their doctors to write a letter to an insurance company saying the panni interferes in their ability to exercise and have a normal life -- in addition to wicked *****ly heat and other fun stuff like that.)

MIne gives me backaches, rashes, itches and just overall makes me angry at times.   LOL

I just went to plastics to see if it can be removed.  My RNY surgeon wrote a letter for me.  And I have been treating it for infections for the past 8 months.  I am sick of it.

Good luck and I sure hope we all can get them removed...  I am getting desparate to get mine gone!!!!   :)

Huge hugz,
Tracy

I feel the same as you they wanted me to be BMI 30 and I am 37 and still losing but it hangs so bad and the break down has been since before surgery. I got my medical records and will try again. it is such and issue and I started jogging and it has been an issue with that also. Thanks for everyones help.

Now that mine is "deflating", it will slap against my thighs and make noise when I walk. Tighter pants help that, but I think I'm going to have to buy some kind of panty girdle or something soon to keep it contained. I think the insurance will pay for the removal, but I'm only 4 months out and will have to wait until 12 to 18 months post-op.

It's your belly fat (or skin) that hangs down like an apron when you lose a bunch of weight. I think the official medical term is "pannus" and you can have it removed in a surgery called a panniculectomy. Mine is still mostly inflated with fat, but starting to sag at the sides. UGH.

Since I was having a hernia repair anyway I ponied up the money to have my panni removed while the doc was at it... after it was all said and done, it cost me about $5K, but it was well worth it!
