Someone please help me.. I am eating celery, cauliflower and drinking flavored water but I am so darn hungry and unhappy. I slipped up last night and ate a sandwhich, not the weigh****chers meal that I had. REGRETS now but want to stay on track...please help me some ideas that will get me through the next 12 days until surgery.

SF popsicles and broth saved me.

It gets easier after three days. You need to detox from the bad food.

Hang in there!!!

Sugar Free Jello and Unjury protein shakes helped me make it through my pre-surgery diet days!  Also crunching on flavored ice cubes helped ... but not so great on the teeth!  Hang in there!!! All the best to you! Hugs!

One more thing... to keep in mind... think of it as happy food for thought!

A lady in my support group said that happiness doesn't come from the stomach or food... it comes from all the people in your life, and your activities and accomplishments and knowing that you are doing something good and healthy for and taking care of yourself.

So don't let your stomach sabotage you... Keep your head in the game and your eye on the prize... focus on anything that will make you really truly and substansively happy (okay pardon me im makin up words now!)... focus on yourself, take a shower, do your hair, brush your teeth a lot, reorganize your closet by size (you will be surprised at how this helps later when the weight starts coming off!!!) ... help others, spending time with your loved ones, get outside away from the kitchen... walk - you're gonna be doing a lot of that after surgery anyway... but whatever you do ... don't give up!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

ok... stepping down off the cheerleading podium before i break something!!! SUPER BIG REASSURING SUPPORTIVE HUGS!

Keep in mind that you're doing this diet so your surgeon will have an easier time performing your surgery. The preop diet helps to shrink your liver.

Are you able to have protein shakes? EAS Advantage Carb Control protein shakes are cheap... about $5 for 4 of them. The dark chocolate is delicious. See if you can have protein shakes.

You can do it!!! I have a month to go so admittedly I'm guessing here..
what about ice, pop cycles, gum?

I don't know what your personal goals are after wl. Try thinking of those. As someone else said this is all to shrink your liver so Dr can do his thing.

Keep us posted on how you are doing. I will be doing this next month.

I had my first appt w/ my NUT today and she told me a very motivating story about a woman that cheated on her diet and when they did the surgery her liver was so big that they couldn't even do the surgery.  Not even w/ an open RNY.  They first attempted the Lap RNY, then opened her up and still couldn't do it, so they closed her up and she went through the surgery and had a huge scar for nothing!  I sure don't want to become that person.

You can do it.  You just need to remind yourself of that.  Sorry I don't have any real advice, but I needed to share that story and I felt that maybe you could use it as the motivation you need right now.

Really keep your mind on your goal.. to have a safe and sucessful surgery.. if you keep cheating your liver will not shrink enough and it maight be possible the doc might go to do the surgery and cant get the liver out of the way and be unable to do it.. then you will have the pains from being opened and have to be rescheduled to have it at a later date.. you dotn want that to happen so please keep that in mind and dont cheat..
find something (anything) to keep yourself busy and away from food.. I started a scrap book of my journey through all this.. I cleaned out my closet.. I read a lot of weight loss surgery books and yes stayed on the computer alot.. help is right here... if you get the urger to eat get on here and post or just read.. Keep busy.. thumb throught the before and after pictures on here for encouragement.. .. remember the brass ring you are going for..

Patti is right .. if you really stick to it , it will get easier after the first three days are gone.. drink drink drink.. fill up on fluids until you could not possible eat anything.. popsicles were my life saver.. so was hot tea at night..

I wish you all the best and I will pray for you to get through this..

Well I went to the store last night and stocked up on sugar less popiscles, lettuce with a spritzer, cucumbers, crystal light and water. I can do this and so glad you are all here. I am going to work on my homework and watch a movie. I am staying on track today and last night, I ate my weigh****chers soup and drank water. I have several soups available for the next several days but forgot broth. I am also munching on small pickles! THINGS WILL GET BETTER and thanks for all the stories, especially about the liver because that will not happen to this woman....I am going to lose 200 lbs.

dont beat yourself up about your slip, i know it must be hard.  it may happen, just get back on track and try not to let it happen again as you need it for your surgery.
