15 mins on the elliptical made my thighs cry uncle!
So then I did 3 set of 15 reps on the leg curl and leg extensions machines and 3 sets of 30 on the leg press...

Then I hit the showers... LOL

40 minutes on the bike at 4:30 this morning. Feel good that I did it. Feel more energized.

Why have I been avoiding it?

I have to work on my idiotic ideas about sleep vs. exercise. Unless I'm working on only two hours of sleep, the exercise is always going to make me feel great.

Thanks for managing this thread!

Good luck everybody!!

The exercise challenge for me is the internal struggle within. One side of me rolls over in bed and turns the alarm off. The other side knows I will feel great and have much more energy if I just get up and DO IT! Today I got up and took a hike with my dog on Tiger Mountain and we're .both exhausted but  calm and happy. I may regret it later when I'm working the graveyard shift at the hospital, but for now I feel great. The only bad thing about this week is we're living in a motel for a few days while our floors are being refinished, and the bed has a rock-hard mattress. Hopefully, I'm tired enough to get a nap in before work, despite the bed. Have a great evening everyone!

Hi Pam,

I can't wait till i get to where you are. They don't tell you how hard it is along the way. Us newer post ops think it will be easier but when your so high in the BMI sometimes you can get discouraged. Hopefully your back in your own comfy bed soon. Thanks for posting. You Vets really inspire me.

I walked 1.70 miles today. This week has been a struggle for me to get out of bed and do my walking. I'm 6 weeks out and that burst of energy I got after the surgery has run out. I'm trying to push my way through this overall tired feeling have now.

WAY TO GO, LADIES!! We are really doing it! Yay, us! :)

I did 6.78 miles on the elliptical machine with the arm exerciser attachment at level 8 resistance. It felt so good to rock out with my Flower Power playlist (the greats such as Rod Stewart, Simon & Garfunkel, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Neil Diamond) while I was sweating bullets and really MOVING my body.

When things get tough on this maintenance road, I really try to revisit the way that I feel NOW (able to run, walk, bend, lift, breathe, and exist without pain) in comparison with the way I felt 4 years ago, when I was at my heaviest. I NEVER want to forget that contrast, because it makes the journey easier.
