Orginal post:

I will copy the same thread for about a wee****il i get regualr familar faces. Thanks everyone that shared there challenge yesterday. We all can help each other in so many ways.

I started this post partly to start more activity within this forum. People starting with BMI's 50+ share an extra something in common and understand the challenges that it takes to become healthy and stay motivated even after a stall. Most of us face the overwhelming reality that not even 100, 125 or 150 lbs is enough to get us to a fully healthy state. This daily post is just to announce what you have done physically to add to your overall health. As we all know, exercise is an essential key and it provides benefits in tremendous ways.

My heaviest was 383 lbs and by surgery date i was 368 lbs. I have walked from week one following surgery and along the course i have gotten discouraged but always stayed passionate to continue my journey. It was hard and i sometimes cried along the way but i feel so much better because exercise is fueling me with energy, hope, inspiration and the drive that's needed to continue long term. I workout 4-5 days a week and my activity changes from day to day however, cardio is always in the program. Rather your 2 months or 8 yrs post op we're all going through the same fight equally. I've had to build up to where i am today but it doesn't matter if you can only walk 10 minutes to start, the point is; YOU'VE STARTED.

Yesterday was a great workout with(CallMeMsE), thanks girl for inviting me and i look forward to tomorrow. Your doing GREAT. Today i will continue cardio atleast 4-5 miles; crossramp level 10 and resistance 12 and increase up to 14. I was able to do 4 miles in 38 minutes , i think that's good for 265 lbs. Well people get moving and good luck.

Tips for longer workout sessions:

-Eating properly is important; if you don't you won't have the energy to go the extra distance
-Breathe, Breathe, Breathe; and pace yourself; when ur winded you tend to talk yourself out of the extra 10 or 20 min
-Ge****er intake so your body stays hydrated during increased resistance settings
-Take a snack or protein to have after your workout
-Get proper rest at night
-Listen to your body NOT your mind. Our body aches and let's us know to slow down or stop but our minds will talk us out of everything all the time lol
-Set goals and increase them over time

****I'm not an expert but i'm passionate about what i can do to help others :-)

Definitely girl...on the georgia forum a couple of more people replied to my walking group post that live in gwinnett.  So when the weather warms up I'm going to get something going.  My goal today is 30 minutes.  Kids are home from school today so it will be this evening.

I have been exercising everyday and it has built up my confidence.  I was inactive for years, so my body is getting used to working out. My heaviest weight was 290, now I am 279.  My MD would like for me to get down to 270.    I have been doing 10 minutes on the eliptical, and 10 sit ups.  That may seem like very little for some, but it has been an accomplishment for me because I was so sendentary.    We can do it..we are doing it!!

Oh great. I know when i started out on the elliptical i could barely do 2 min. I don't believe anything is too little when you haven't been doing anything for a while. And yes, we can do it. Thanks for posting.

Hey guys.. my back is better and I am moving moving moving.. well it is slow moving but still moving..
I walked 12 minutes 3x today on treadmill.. I have increased the 10 minutes to 12 minutes.. even a little change may make a difference.. I worked in my kitchen cleaning out cabinets and rearranging.. I did a few loads of laundry and then cleaned out all the drawers in my dresser and got rid of lots of things I cant wear anymore.. made lots of room for new things..

I gave the two goats a bath and cleaned their pen and they smell like babies now instead of goats.. that will last till I feed them again in the morning.. changing there bedding and getting it in the washer and getting down clean is a chore.. I have to bend over and do this to the bottom of an old playpen.. kills my back.. but I guess that counts as moving too..

I also started on the wii fit and today I did more balancing ball.. I am getting better.. the first day it told me that my age was 60. 10 years older than I am .. and today it said I was 54. that is only 4 years.. so I am improving..

I am stuck at the 224 on the scale but I am still proud because I did not gain the 10-15lbs I usually do during the holidays.. first time in many years.. yippee..

Wish I had someone to workout with but I live way out in the country and the closest person that I was asked to work out with lives 60 miles away.. so it is just me and the dog.. lol...
I am thinking about buying the wii program that just came out called JUST DANCE.. I heard it was good and I bet it is fun.. no one can see me make a fool of myself but the dog and she cant tell anyone so I think I will get it when money affords..

thanks for starting this thread.. it keeps me accountable..

hugs to all..
