Is this normal

Hi Everyone,

I know that everyone loses at different rates, but I was just wondering if this was typical. I had surgery on 12/21 and was losing about 1/2 to 1 pound a day... up until 3 days ago. Since then the scale has not moved since Sunday. I am getting in most of my liquids and just started 2 meals a day.

Is it typical to lose a bunch very early on and then stall. I know I need to watch becoming obsessive with the scale but I want to make sure this is expected.

Thank you in advance for any thoughts, comments and advice.

It seems to be completey typical.  I lost 24 lbs the first 2 weeks and then nothing for almost 3 weeks.  Then I lost 10 lbs in 1 week.  Everyone tried to console me and that it was normal but it doesn't feel right..not eating much and not losing weight.  But it picks back up.  Just keep doing what you are doing.  My doctor did tell me to make sure I was getting in all of my water...

Yuppers!

Totally normal. For me, my first stall coincided with the first big estrogen dump from my shrinking fat cells, so I was a raving lunatic at the time. I knew my weight loss wasn't anywhere near from over, but I found myself thinking this thought: "I didn't have this this surgery so I'd lose 40 pounds and then stop. Wail. Wail. Wail."

Water. Protein. Chewing what your nut sez you can eat to death. Vitamins. Calcium. Repeat.

Try staying off the scale for a week.

Good luck!

I concur with all the other wonderful ladies-it's totally normal. Most people experience stalls, especially in week 3, month 3-6-9 etc... your body needs to catch up, be patient and keep doing what you're doing!

Yes, that's very normal so don't be worried just keep doing what your doing. The scale will move again but so far you have done excellent and your not even a month out.

I had surgery on 12/23 and the following week at my 1 week appt. I was down 20lbs.  Now I'm down 25 lbs and no other movement.  It'll happen.  Get yourself a measuring tape.  Although the scale isn't moving, you can still be losing inches.  So that's another motivating factor.
