Hi Everyone! Hopefully someone remembers me and my sad story (LOL). I was to have the RNY on 10-19 and once the surgeon started to procedure, he found that my small intestine was too short to make the connection and RNY is not a possibility for me. I woke up having had surgery and all the incisions but no RNY - Ugh, devastating!

My insurance doesn't cover the sleeve but since my husband is retired military, I had the option of going down to the Army hospital in Tacoma. I spent a month (October - November) calling, getting dead ends, wrong answers, chasing leads, insurance screw-ups - and finally, right before Thanksgiving, I just had to let it go for a while. I just couldn't do it anymore, it was all too stressful. So, I took time off from it but started counseling to prepare myself for surgery anyway.

Then, today, I started anew (Thanks to my OH friend, Lisa) and called the FIRST person I called to begin with (Pam, for those of you who know Madigan) and, instead of getting VM like I always do, she answered! I told her my whole sob story again about the failed surgery and the huge ordeal I'd been through trying to get into Madigan and she took me on and said she WOULD figure it out! And SHE DID! By the end of today, I have a consult appointment with the Chief of Bariatric Surgery THIS Wednesday! They will accept all my pre-op tests that I've already done, there's nothing else I need to do! I go to the consult and then we'll schedule surgery! OMG you guys! I must have been under a lucky star today! After ALL that, and it's all figured out and I'm scheduled within 48 hours!

I think I'm going to fall over! I can not believe it! I'm so nervous and I'm just so in shock.

Thanks for reading and thanks for letting me read your stories - even though I wasn't responding lately.

I'll keep you posted! *whew*

Hi Laura! I had been wondering how things were going for you. I am so happy to hear about Madigan. I am so hoping they can get you scheduled soon for your sleeve. You know, we have saved room on the loser's bench for you. Let us know how things go on Wednesday!

I remember you. I am glad that you didn't just shut down and stay there. Yay for luck stars! See you on the losers bench. Life is harder here. Lol. (Tailbone joke)

It will be okay in the end. If it's not okay.... it's not the end!

Laura,
Just two days ago I was wondering what happened to you and if you were still fighting the fight to get your surgery.
That is wonderful, excellent news! I am so happy for you!
I really want to know how your appointment goes on Wednesday!
Good Luck and I am so proud of you for sticking it out to the end.
Hugs,

WOW!!!! New Year...and GREAT NEWS!!!!! I'm so happy to hear that everything worked out for you. I was concerned about you after you were not able to have the RNY, but you were so positive even then! I am so proud of you that you kept it up, and took a break when needed.

Every thing always works out the way it should...this is soooooooooooo wonderful to hear!!!!

SO good to hear from you, Laura. My son is in the Army and it IS frustrating to call and call, but he keeps it up until he gets a LIVE one who can FIX his problem. Congratulations on getting to the right person. I'm very eager to hear how your consult goes.

I'm banded now since 12-15 and I'm really happy. I get a fill on the 13th of this month and I'm ready as I'm starting to have some hunger late in the evening. It's SO NICE to have the help of the surgery to get me through the days. I'm eager for you to get help too.

Keep us posted on your progress.  I'm down  51 lbs but I've got 125 to go, so I'll be around for a long long time!!
