Did you ask this question on the insurance forum or the IL state forum.  When I was going through a minor hassle with insurance(I had to appeal but I won on a first level review)  [I have a BCBS - hmo in my state but I know they really vary from state to state - BCBS is one of better ones for bariatric surgery here in PA ], I read a lot about BCBS of IL  on the insurance boards here on OH- they are notorious for giving folks a hard time re bariatric surgery.  But I believe there are folks who have prevailed with them ..

best wishes,

Rhonda

I have BCBS of TN. A couple of years ago they had a specific exclusion and would not pay for wt loss surgery, but they changed and just paid 80% for me. They required a 10% loss before surgery. Are you positive it's excluded?
