2 Days Until Surgery! How did u prepare?

I will be switched in 2 DAYS!...I am so very nervous and I feel like crawling up the walls. How did you all prepare for the surgery mentally, spiritually and physically? Physically I do not mean like liquid diet etc, but like hot bath, massage etc. I know that I am doing the right thing by having this surgery but I have never had any type of anesthesia before and I think that is what makes me more nervous than the actual surgery. Knowing that I am not in control of myself being able to wake etc. Thanks in advance to all those that answer.

While that is a healthy fear, think of how many people are put under everyday. The couple days before hand I made sure I had everything ready for the hospital and my return home, so that I felt prepared.  I journaled a lot (and recommend to do this and keep it up post op) I looked at a lot of before and after pics for inspiration, I stopped reading any negative comments a few days before so that I would remain in a positive state of mind.  And every challenge I face I said to my self "put on your big girls panties, you can do this" I have a fear of hospitals, needles, you name it, but I got through it and it wasn't so bad. You have made a decision to take a path to a healthier you. And don't forget your chapstick for the hospital.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!  We'll save you a seat on the loser's bench!

THANK U SO MUCH! U have made me feel better and I will NOT read any more negative comments. I watched Biggest Loser tonight and got scared when the Dr. was saying how WLS with people with High BMI's have a 1 in 10 chance of dying and I fell apart. My Mom made me feel better and now U. Thanks!

I reread Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies.  I started "nesting" by cleaning out my cabinets and making sure I had nothing tempting in the house.  I paid  bills to make sure that was taken care of just in case I was in the hospital for an extended period of time.  My husband would have no clue what to pay who if he needed to do it.  I made sure all my laundry was clean so that I would not need to worry about it when I got home.

I blogged (my form of journaling) about my feelings and my thoughts for the future.

Good luck!

I bought a ton of little containers for food leftovers and got the kitchen organized. I made a little reading nook with some good books, magazines, warm blanket, essential oil for good smells, table for my drink. I bought a bunch of cute water bottles and had them filled in refrigerator. I bought new house shoes.

Since I told everyone about my surgery I had lots of greetings and good wishes and I was very touched by the outpouring of support. I never realized how many people cared about me.

The hospital folks are professionals. They've dealt with obese patients before. they know how to handle us and will take good care of you. GOOD LUCK.
