I feel overwhelmed...surgery is Jan 8

Hey Cathy, I almost had a nervous breakdown the first couple of days of my pre op liquids. I was mourning the loss of food and was totally undone. I'd think about a food and it would hit me, almost like a physical pain. Day 3 I had a caffeine headache and stayed home from work. Then I woke up on day 4 and felt fine and kept feeling fine through surgery and after. So.......you are at the HARD stage now. Hang in there and keep drowning your sorrows with MORE liquids!!

I figure God expects us to take advantage of the weight loss options available to us. I kept hoping for a miracle and that I would suddenly become super disciplined in my eating and able to walk and exercise better. Eventually I saw that I was in a BAD downward spiral of getting OLDER, FATTER, more joint pain, and less able to move. I decided action was needed.

We're a good sounding board and would love to support you through this. Pretty soon you'll be turning it around too and getting lighter, more mobile, more able to do stuff, happier, etc. It's not easy, but thank goodness for weight loss surgery.
Food is for sissies. REAL women exist on skim milk, protein powder, broth and air.....

You are so right! My father came to see me tonight and we were talking about how wonderful it was that God has provided this solution to my problem.
Yes, that goodness for this website and your encouraging words.
I am day 2 of liquid and it has been rough. I feel horrible, like someone is wringing my legs and arms. Also I am a type 1 diabetic and I have had to adjust my insulin pump and my body does not like that either.
This will pass and I will be better, I have faith. I just know I could not continue the way I am now.

I think we all feel the same way you do at some point before surgery.

The preop diet was bad. It got easier for me after three days.

Best of luck!!!!
One food makes you larger, and one food makes you small...

Hi Cathy, my VSG is on Jan 8th as well, in Cancun. I am very ready, but I have noticed, the closer it gets, the quieter I get. I am just trying to get thru until D Day....I had to start my pre-op on Dec 15th!!! So, u are very lucky!!! Best wishes to you for an uneventful surgery!!!
