Poll: What do you do to reward yourself now?
I think it's important that we give ourselves little rewards as we head down the road on this journey. (Especially since we have so far to go!)
When I had my 40th birthday in August, I was just a few pounds away from 100 pounds down (wanted to make it by my birthday, but it didn't happen.) I had to make reservations ahead of time, so I rewarded myself with a full day at the spa anyway. I got a massage, facial, mani, pedi and a haircut in a Las Vegas salon.
I'm trying to come up with something for 150 to motivate myself (27 pounds to go). The massage is out because my hubbie and I are doing that as part of our Christmas gifts to each other at a local place. Maybe I'll go down to LA LA land (Los Angeles) and go to a real salon to get something done with THIS HAIR.
I've always been real bad about taking care of my physical appearance.
Whatcha' think?
What are you gonna do to treat yourself?

One food makes you larger, and one food makes you small...
Personally, I think as I go down, I'll treat myself with new clothing! So far, I've been able to use "hand me downs" and things that were in my closet.

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY! Working on the next 25. Then I'll tackle more...

Hey, Wild Women! The massage and hair-do are a great idea, but as for me, I treat myself with NEW CLOTHES!!
I got myself two pairs of size 4 jeans and some size small sexy sweaters that are supposed to show the cleavage that I unfortunately no longer have. But they are still cute! :)
I also like to reward myself with sparkly things. I had a bracelet made on Etsy.com with my motto hand-stamped on it: "Fall down 7 times, Stand up 8". It was only $23.00!
And I went to the bead shop in the Village and made myself a double-stranded bracelet of aquamarine and sea-green colored crystals that says "RUN" in small silver oval beads in the center.
So, that is the extent of my treating myself for the moment. I've been looking for a pair of size 2 "goal" jeans, but I am having a hard time finding that size. I am not actually aiming to be that small. I just want to see if my training will reshape my body to that extent as the months go on.
Ladies, let's keep rewarding our good efforts with non-food items and activities! We've worked hard for our success!

well what a difference 10 months can make... last year this time my goals were... eye on the main prize losing enough weight 45+lbs to get my surgery an recovering.. an i rewarded my self witha laptop... an some games an DVDs to keep me from going insane while healing.. 100 lbs down i got some clothes cuz none of my 5 x+ clothes fitted anymore an i hadnt been up to check attic for old stuff an just felt like getting something new.. but since then its been like christmas everyother week.. when i find something else upstairs in closets attic etc.. even brand new things i forgot bout buying that still have tags on them... when i lost 150 lbs... i celebrated by donating alot of my items i had to use pre-op... my cane, walker, wheelchair... all my old clothes.. an so on.. i think giving away things felt even better then getting things.. truly.. made me feel like tons of weight were lifted off my shoulders when i seen those things go.. knowing i didnt need them anymore..
So far I have been of course getting new clothes due to the weight loss but that doesn't really excite me yet. Once I loose some more I feel like I will get more excited over clothes, I mean it is great to be in smaller sizes. But something for myself is I never felt like I could wear jewerly anymore once I got too big, so lately I have been buying myself a few little pieces. For me wearing earings, a necklace, and braclet do something for how I feel inside and I feel like it finally looks good
I've been investing in my skin and body care...something that went by the wayside the larger I got. I bought some awesome (and very affordable) shades of mineral eyeshadows from etsy.com and hit ebay for some deals on skin care stuff.
When I lost 50 lbs, I was supposed get a pedi, but that didn't happen. So, that's my goal for 100 lbs. Maybe I'll get mani/pedi. After that, I really don't know. But right now I'm enjoying making time for me...being girlie and wearing makeup regularly...and not feeling guilty for making that time.

Well, my big goal at 150 lost is to go horseback riding! Something I haven't done since....hmmm....well I can't even remember!

I love this chain of thoughts. I'm spending money on my hair. I go to this nice lady who dyes it red and adds blonde highlights. Makes me VERY happy to have decent hair. I'll see if I can post a photo. I have a bad shoulder and arm and can't really reach up to DO much with my hair, but a short do lets me use Aussie Freeze Spray and kind of tousle it around with my fingers.
I'm TRYING to take care of my skin as my future DIL is a Dermatologist and she gave me Pro X, which she says is a good skin care system, but I truly truly hate smearing myself with creams and lotions. I'm continuing to try, though, but I think the wrinkles are winning.

I love this post. I've mostly rewarded myself with experiences and opportunities. Like taking swimming lessons, splurging on clothes and shoes, lingerie!!! I even earned a wii with my exercise minutes. Here are my latest reward myself goals
Goals:
1. Learn to crochet or knit (whichever comes first)- Bought kits at Barnes and Noble
2. 3000 gym minutes: Sexy Everyday Lingerie ($300.00)
3. Learn to swim (again..... third time is the charm. )
4. Bike ride for 90 minutes straight or three miles whichever is first
5. Learn to roller skate... eeekkkkkkk!
So its going to be yarn, lingerie, swim suit, bike accesories and roller skates this time around.
