Sorry! Couldn't resist!! I never did find a sugar cookie -- a good thing. Altho, I got a new sugar free/flour free/protein rich recipe that I will try when I can get into town to buy the ingredients -- thanks Teresa!

I did unexpectedly great this week. My stall broke. It might have had to do with my  not taking my back medicine this past week (for which I am thankful by itself).

My mom's still in the hospital in Los Angeles, recovering from her heart surgery. Her recovery is slow going, and as usual, she is perplexing the doctors. I'm thinking it's just her wierd way of healing. I think my sister Lucy the RN, sitting bedside, is a super hero.

I exercised (pain free) for the first time in a month this morning. I feel great!!! <-- Tony the Tiger voice

Starting Weight: 388
Last Week: 269
Today: 263!!!    (I'm so happy that I don't care that it was 262 yesterday!)

How did everyone do? Even if you don't want to share your weight, share your week.

My goal for the day is to avoid the temptation of anything anyone brings into the break room at work. My goal for the week is to exercise two more times.

Hello!  I am kind of new to this board but wanted to share my excitement that my 3 week stall ended on Saturday!!!

Highest Weight - 400
Surgery Weight - 354
Last Week - 329
Today's Weight - 324.4

I will be 6 wks post op tomorrow and have lost 30 lbs.  I lost 24 lbs the first 2 weeks after my surgery and then stalled for over 3 weeks.  It was very depressing to not be losing weight and not able to eat...but I felt much better after losing 3 lbs on Saturday and then 2 more this morning.  I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but it is very hard when you are stalled and want to know if you are losing.

I still have this fear that the surgery will not work for me and that the scale is going to start going back up any day now.  Did anyone else feel like that right after their surgery?

Welcome!

Stalls are awful.

We know, intellectually, that there's no way that consuming 700 calories a day, exercising dutifully everyday, getting protein and liquids in will make one maintain or gain when you weigh as much as we do. But you do anyway. I know I've had that worry -- I can only eat 2 oz of food and I'm not losing weight?

For me, my weight loss is in little steps. Not a nice straight line. Even though I know this, I get somewhat annoyed every month. And I weigh everyday. If it's making you crazy, you need to put the scale away.

Congrats on breaking your stall. Hope it is the first of very, very, very few!

Kim, that is exactly what happened to me.  At about week 6 or so I stalled for 3 weeks.  Then, since Thanksgiving I have been on the rapid descent again.  Now I am staying away from the scale big time.  It drives me nuts.  Interestingly, I did lose 1.5 inches from my waist during those 3 weeks.  I also started to feel like that was it, I would be the person that the surgery did not work for, but I think everyone goes through that.  We are at a very emotional time as are hormones are in major flux with all this super fat burner going on.  And also, I find it emotional in general.  The whole process leading to getting surgery, my doc's insistence on my losing lots of weight beforehand, and the emotions of losing so fast and not being able to keep up with the clothes (looking like a bag lady sometimes, and yes even missing some of my favorite sweaters, jeans etc).

Friends are the family we choose for ourselves.

Yep.. I wasn't sure the surgery was going to work.. I had surgery on the 23rd and was at 236lbs.  At my one week check up I was 231..  but then I had problems and gained up to 234lbs the next week.. UUGH>>>since  then I have worked and worked and did exactly what I was suppose to do and no movement.. then finally last week the scale went to 227.. that would be 9 lbs in a month,, I was so discouraged before that and still not happy with the slow loss.. I went yesterday and weighed in at 225  so that is 11 lbs since surgery.. It is so slow I sure wi**** would just  take off like everyone else has.. but I really can't complain because I am down 78 lbs since February..

We all loose at differrent rates.. you can't compare yourself to others or you will drive yourself mad.. I did..
Just do what you are suppose to do and it will come off.. at 3 weeks most people and I say  most so it is not written in stone.. have a stall.. there are several places along the way where stalls are common..

Keep up the good work.. look you are down 76 lbs.. total that is so good.. I would kill to have lost 30 lbs since surgery... so smile and be happy and go girl..

Hi everyone.  I hope you all had a nice holiday.  I ate more food than usual and less protein shakes and I still lost.  I was kinda stuck again at 285 for a couple of weeks. I wonder if because I ate more than usual, it started the wt. loss again.

Does anyone know how much of what we eat we actually absorb...like how much of the protein, fats, carbs are absorbed?   I read it somewhere a long time ago and can't find it now.

Starting Wt:  378
Surgery Wt:  344
Last Week:  285 (though I didn't post it)
Today: 281

Do you all count the 100 lbs lost from your surgery wt or highest wt?  Three more pounds and I will have lost 100 lbs from my highest wt.  It seems hard to believe. I've never lost that much at once before.

Have a good week.

Linda
