Patti...

This is from the book called  "500 more Low Carb Recipes" by Dana Carpender.

Sheri Dornhecker says this is an adaptation of a recipe from her grandmother who was a famous baker in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She used to make these for the state police for keeping an eye on her house when her hubby was away working on the railroad. Sheri insists that Grandma Amanda says you must mix these by hand, not with an electric mixer...

Amanda's Sugar Cookies

1 1/2 cups Splenda (loose)
1 cup Olive Oil
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups vital wheat gluten
1/2 cup vanilla whey protein powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cream of tarter
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp lemon extract

Sift together the splenda and the oil. Add eggs, mix again.... In a seperate bowl, combine the dry ingredients, and stir to distribute evenly... Add dry ingredients to wet, then stir in the vanilla and lemon extracts.

You can refrigerate the dough for awhile, or just proceed and roll into 1" balls. Place them on cookie sheets sprayed with olive oil, and press each ball with a fork several times, flattening them down. Grandma Amanda sprinkled her sugar cookies with colored sugar but you can sprinkle yours with splenda or truvia.. You can sprinkle cinnamon too or a combination of both.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.

The cookies will seem oily, but they will not be once baked.. for a different taste you can try orange extract..

Each cookie will have 83 calories;   5 g fat;  1 g carb; a trace of fiber;  8 g protein

I hope these are good. let me know how they are,, this book has a lot of recipes with protein used and no sugar.. I got it at the Salvation Army for a $1.00..  what a buy.. I am glad it had this recipe in it..

Merry Christmas and enjoy the sugar cookies.. watch the calories though...I dont want to be the reason of a gain or stall for you..

I am only lacking two ingredients!! I'll be in my local crunchy-organic-granola emporium first thing Saturday to get the vital wheat gluten.

I think I can control myself -- but, if not: 8 g of protein!!

Thanks so much!!

Last week 328
This week 323. This was my SURGERY week, thus the good results.

I kind of over reacted to food today at work. They had an ornament exchange with food carry in at noon and I didn't participate. A very nice lady this afternoon asked me if I had tried the yummy cheese dip. "Oh no," I said, "I can't have that; that's not on my program at ALL!" Etc, etc. Way to be a JERK, Ronda!! I eventually realized I was talking WAY too much and shut up.

But seriously, I've learned that if I don't SEE the food, it doesn't speak to me and I can win the battle. If I actually LOOK at the food, then it haunts me.
Food is for sissies. REAL women exist on skim milk, protein powder, broth and air.....

Way to GO Rhonda.. You made it through a big challenge.. food at work parties, even if it is just at lunch is so hard to deal with..  You need to be very proud of yourself... I am proud of you..

Don't worry what you say to people.. this is your new life and you have to deal anyway you can to advoid the evil foods...lol.. If they do not know about the surgery ,, just saying a food is not on your program is not giving it away.. many many people,,including most of us have tried so many diets that the friends we have around us everyday see us trying a new diet (program) alot.. that does not mean you had surgery.. So dont fret..  Besides the diet and dealing with the food is the hardest part of all of this.. we have to stick to it for the TOOL given us to work.. you can tell people you are on a diet and not be lying and they usually will just say.. oh ok and they will leave it at that..

Yes when I hear of food it is not too bad but to actually see it kills me.. I hate the tv at night.. all that the commercials are is FOOD.. so I am trying to keep a book in by my chair at night and when the commercials come on I mute the tv and read for 2 minutes.. or look at a magazine.. I am going to have to work through the see no evil..

kids and I decorated 72 christmas cookies tonight... I baked them all day long and took lots of time making each one a work of art.... now WHAT do I do with them?!?!?  I admit I ate 1 but I will also confess that only the first bite was good the rest was terrible too sweet, too much guilt too... LOL  anyway I am quite positive that I will not be tempted by my beautiful cookies anymore...I did enjoy decorating them with my kids though!

Tomorrow I am vowing to myself to have a very VERY good eating day because the alst 2-3 days have been a bit iffy... this holiday crap is getting old FAST!  It's hard to eat perfectly when everyone is pushing food on me left and right GRRRRR

oh... Im going to buy a scale soon.. the once a month thing is getting old fast.  I do like the suprise though LOL I just dont want to get scale obsessed no more than once a week jess....hmmm

Well, I have discovered that I dont dump when I eat sugar.  Now while I havent over indulged in sugar, I was still hoping that even a little would make me really sick so that temptation wouldnt be as strong...but alas, its not to be.  So I'm still going to have to practice moderation, and so far I'm doing okay.  The holidays are the worst.  Everyone brings food to work.  And Ronda, I know just what you mean about talking too much when someone asks you "did you try the...."  LOL....they dont need to whole sordid story, just a polite "no I havent" will do.  But I feel the need to tell them WHY.

I tried milk....again....and again, its a no go.  Makes me sad..I really like milk.  Chicken fried steak almost killed me Sunday, one bite and I was sick for 2 hours...then like an idiot, I tried one more bite...and yep, you guessed it, sick again for 2 hours.  Some favorite foods are really hard to give up, but it makes it easier if they make you sick.

Yall have a very Merry Christmas!!

Sugar cookies, I can resist; bourbon balls - not so much.

But today, I think I can resist anything since I'm riding high on making my first major goal.  Which is good, because guess what I'm doing today:  baking Christmas cookies!  LOL  (they're a gift for a friend.  Honest!)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
