yea same stuff as everyone else said... I jsut want to be able to go places and do things and NOT have a weight issue....  I dont think a normal person has to consider whether or not seatbelts will fit or if they will fit into a chair....  I'd like to enver have to worry about those thigns EVER again.

What a great post.  I have all the same ones that everyone else had.  I hit 270 this week, down from my highest at 423.  Every day, theres something different about me.  I can walk longer, do more, I'm just more comfortable in my skin.  The day the steering wheel didnt rub my belly was like the best day ever.  Then the day came that I fit in a resturant booth, I wanted to tell the whole room.  Then the day my partner put her ams allllll the way around me, it made my heart sing.  The day I walked a mile, I felt like doing the Rocky dance at the top of those stairs.  My point is, it just keeps getting better. Even during stalls, even during the days that I slip back into old eating habits, it just keeps getting better.
One more thing..my partner and I were in a store the other day..I was at one end of an aisle and she was at the other, looking for me.  She looked right at me and didnt know it was me..it made us both laugh. And I still want to ride a bike.  My knees are shot and they dont bend well, but I'm going to try this weekend.
Keep up the good work everyone...I'm 5 months out now...and its all still getting better. OH AND by the way, my hair has finally stopped falling out.  I think the biotin really helped.  2500mgs a day.  Try it.
Love to you all...and Very Merry Christmas..you are all special people to me.

WOW aprilrose this is a great post  and all of the other posts here are good too and really imspiring ... thank you all for sharing!!

I will be happy when I can keep up with people when they walk, and not feel like they are 'slowing down' for me ...

greetings all!

i thought i'd chime in here since i think i'm farther out than the rest of you at just a few weeks short of my five year surgery anniversary. day of surgery, i weighed 463 lbs, bmi was over 66. i'm 5'10". today, i'm in the normal bmi range at a weight of 165.

and my whole life is different!

i can sit in any seats anywhere -- booths in restaurants are no longer a humiliating issue. airplane seats -- no longer a problem. movies, amusement parks -- all of them are not a problem. i used to be unable to walk any distance at all -- even short walks left me breathless and unable to talk. climbing stairs -- just forget about it. now i can walk for miles with my dog, and i always take the stairs in buildings rather than the elevators - just because i can! i bought a bicycle! i travel for my job, and i always used to worry that if my luggage was lost on a flight, what would i do? it's not like i could go into just any store and buy something that would fit me. now i can! i can shop anywhere!

my point is to say -- hang in there, keep up the good work. it is definitely worth the effort!

This is so inspiring. It's all about MOVING for me. I want to be able to walk and shop and visit my kids and tour their cities. I want to be a good lively grandmother (with a lap!) when I get grandkids. I even want to be able to clean house more. I want to do WORK in the world and not be stuck on my sofa watching stuff on tv.

Wow, where do I start.  I am almost 8 weeks out.  I have lost about 45 pounds.  I can now jog up the stairs to my bedroom.  I can now fit into clothes that I was busting out of before.  There are so many things that I want to do.  The first thing to come to mind is buy regular sized clothes.  I often go to the stores with my sister and her friends.  They shop is stores life Forever 21 and the Express and the only thing I can fit in there are accessories right now.  I would love to buy some sexy high heeled boots that go up my thigh and look good.  I would love to get on a rollercoster and fit with no problems.  I gave my daughter a birthday party for her 2nd birthday at Jeepers and I am pretty sure I couldn't fit on the rollercoster (I didn't try), but next time I will.  I feel like I am always viewed as the fat lady.  I want to feel sexy, spicey!!  Hopefully, I am on my way.

I'm almost 19 months out , more than 165 lbs down and life now is so different than it was before surgery. You have SO much to look forward to, Patti! Forgive me if I ramble a bit, but its always so wonderful talking about all the changes that have happened to me since WLS, especially when I share with others about to take the journey.

Here's one that a few others  have mentioned, but it  feels great not having to worry about fitting into restaurant booths or chairs with arms.
I can go to concerts and not only fit in the seats, but be comfortable in them!
I can go on carnival rides now too. Before, I wouldn't have even THOUGHT about it.
When I'm riding in an unfamiliar car, it's no longer a toss up whether or not the seat belt will fit me.
I stopped flying on airplanes when I got real big. I was so afraid I'd face the humiliation of being told I had to buy a second seat. I haven't flown since surgery, but I will soon and its great that the only thing I have to worry about now is whether or not my luggage will show up
Oh and that's another reason i stopped flying. If  most other people were to find their luggage missing, although it might be an inconvenience, at least they can go to the nearest store and buy some outfits to hold them over until their bags show up.
When I was at my highest weight, I was a size 32 and had almost outgrown that, so I was barely able to buy clothing at Lane Bryant, forget about regular sized stores. Now I can buy clothes anywhere!

I was on high blood pressure pills before. my surgery. Now my BP is around 99/65. My resting heart rate is around 50.

When I was super, morbidly obese I had severe sleep apnea and had to use a Cpap machine. That machine is now in a closet gathering dust and I can finally get a good, unencumbered night's sleep.

It used to hurt to walk more than a block or two. Now I can RUN!
I can cross my legs like a lady!
I'm 42 years old and feel more beautiful, vibrant and healthy than I ever did in my 20s and 30s!
I'm so excited for you Patti...This surgery isn't magic, but sometimes it feels like it  is to me.

I noticed that you had a cpap and do not have to use it now.  I have some questions if you dont mind.  I wear a cpap now.  I've had it for 5 years now.  Starting pressure was 20..the highest setting.  Since I"ve lost weight, I've been able to lower the pressure to 16. There are some nights I fall asleep without it, but wake up an hour later and put it on.  My questions are this:
How much did you weigh when you stopped using it?
Was it hard to transistion to not wearing it at night..like, did it take a while to get use to not wearing it?
Were you able to just stop wearing it all at once, or did you have to lower the pressure a little at a time?
Any thing you can tell me about it would be helpful.  I'm so looking forward to getting rid of the damn thing.  I too was on high BP meds and am off those with a great pressure now. So I want to get rid of the other hiderance as well.
thanks
April
