Congratulations, Rhonda! Welcome to the loser's bench. I had trouble being intubated, also. My short turtle-like neck and triple chins made the anesthesiologist really earn his fees! In fact, the sore throat was the worst thing about the whole surgery for me. Sip on those fluids and get some good rest tonight!

Congratulations! wow...i didn't realize that you were going to be outpatient. But that's great, now you can relax in the comfort of your own home. Your hubby is a nurse so you can have personalized care at home. I guess it doesn't get better than that.

Well...welcome to your new tomorrow!

Morning guys. I'm lap band, so you guys had more surgery than I did. My port site is sore today, but otherwise I'm good. I'm not ready to drive or anything, but can wrap some presents and do crafts and READ!!

So I'm not the only one difficult to tube? My son is an ER doc and he totally fears folks like us with stubby necks and big tongues. He says he's probably given several folks a sore throat. I told him he would probably be forgiven, since he was saving their life and all that!!

I had my thinned out oatmeal today. YUMMO (as Rachel Ray would say). Liquids for the rest of the year for me, but that includes soups, so I'm good. I actually LIKE broth with unflavored Unjury in it or BSN Lean Dessert blended with skim milk and ice.

I am so glad to hear that you are doing so good.. I have been thinking about you.. Yummo is right on the thinned oatmeal.. lots better than just broth or soup.. I am so happy for you that you are finaly on your way to the new you..

Take it wasy and don't overdo.. I tried to do too much and have been paying for it the past few days.. I am down in the back with pain and its running all the way down the right leg so I know I have a nerve involved again.. I go through this everytime I try to overdo.. So please take it easy.. and follow what they tell you that you can do..

My thouhgts are with you for a speedy recovery.

Yeah, I'm OK.  I went in for my first post-op appointment on Tuesday and I was/am still having a lot of burning/pain when I swallow anything including water.  It started last Friday and they decided I was dehydrated and possibly an ulcer was starting to form so they sent me to the treatment room for re-hydration and a dose of Carafate (which hurt like crazy going down and then the sips of water behind it brought tears to my eyes.)  To make a long story short, they re-admitted me for dehydration and placed a picc line, which I'll probably have for about 2-3 weeks.
