Patty, they want me there at 6 am for a 7:30 surgery. I shouldn't complain as the hospital is 5 min away. I'm NOT a morning person, but am glad to be getting this done early.

My husband has seen me through many expensive failed attempts to lose weight. He's unenthusiastic about surgery, but has been generally nicer lately. I feel strongly that I would not be able to MAINTAIN any sort of weight loss without surgery. My joints are too sore for much exercise and my mood runs kind of depressed much of the time. (I hide this well from others!)

I hope your hubby gets on board and understands the need for more help with the weight problem. People who don't have weight issues, just don't get how STRONG our relationship with food is. It's not just eating less and exercising more; it's rearranging our thoughts and habits. If I had it to do again, I would START with what I currently ate and make one change at a time, chosing a healthier option. Instead of fries, I would get a side salad with my Quarter pounder. I would try to eat 3 pieces of pizza instead of 4, then switch to thin crust. I think that's how weight loss has to be done. You can't stay on something unnatural for a prolonged period of time......

We missed you!!

It's easy peasy. I took pain pills yesterday afternoon and napped.  I was up putzing around the house all evening and stayed up late watching tv. More pain pills at bedtime. Today I feel pretty good. Port site is a little sore and I feel a tad weird in my head. Not ready to drive or anything, but feel fine.

I had some thinned out oatmeal for breaksfast. Tasted good. Let me know how you do. I didn't drink enough the day before surgery. They wanted me to do 80 oz and I didn't and was really dehydrated yesterday. I got one bag of IV's but was still parched. So drink lots of water the day before.

After the bowel prep, I was almost too dehydrated for them to get an IV in. Four different people tried before they found the RN who could find a vein.

PREOPS -- you want to drin****il you hear sloshing from your flab when you walk. It is soooo important.

all ups and downs for me but I'm on a high right now

boyfriend came back from near death and is recovering well
I lost weight during the month he was hospitalized even though I thought I did poorly...dieting.
20 pounds down makes me feel like IM getting somewher even though you cant tell by looking at me yet or even in my clothes ---bummer.

my mother has expressed an interest in having weight loss surgery now too or at least in learning more so Im trying to go to a support meeting with her or one of those informational sessions but
she is hard to get to call them... she will go with me but they want HER to call.  blah

Last week, the scale showed a loss of 9 pounds. In one week. This week, it's showing me up two pounds from that weight. I don't know if it's just that I didn't "really" lose 9 pounds in a week and so the scale is hovering anywhere within a couple pounds of that level or what. It's not like I suddenly ate badly, it's apparently just a stall.

Although today I did eat badly, for the first time in a few weeks. I'm going to do better the rest of the week and hopefully have some kind of loss next Monday.

It's so nice to see all the new post-ops posting weight losses.  Keep up the faith as the weight loss slows down...don't deviate from the program that your doctor gave you, be diligent with your exercise and you will continue to be successful.

2+ years out from surgery and I am down 154 pounds and about to have plastic surgery on Wednesday.  Do I slip up?  Of course, but the pouch lets me know it asap.  Do I exercise regularly?  Yes I do.  That's what keeps me continuing to lose after two years post-op.

So...when you hit those stalls, remember that the stalls break and you'll soon start to lose again.  It's just your body catching up with all the changes!
