I got my surgery date earlier this week.
It is January 6.
My Dr. wants me to lose atleast 10lbs before surgery.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Replace breakfast and lunch with the protein supplement drink of your choice and have a low cal, low fat meal for dinner with lots of veggies.  Can order tons of different supplements online or go to GNC, Wal-Mart.  You could even use the Slim Fast Optima or High Protein.

My surgeon's pre op diet (for 10 days only) is 2 protein shakes a day and also 2 cups of skim milk, orange juice or gatorade. Everything else is calorie free like broth, caffeine free tea, SF jello and SF popsicles. Weight will come off pretty fast on THIS diet. I'm so cold, I can't manage a popsicle, so I've had lots of broth and hot tea.

Donna's suggestion seems good and more sensible as you've got almost a month.

How are you doing on this... I know it was a struggle initially, but are you finding success?

Yes, I'm doing fine. Thanks for asking. Day one I was an emotional wreck. Day 2 I was shakey. Day 3 was caffeine withdrawal headache. Since then, I feel pretty good. We've been busy at work and things are kind of controversial so everyone is gossiping and complaining. It's a good distraction. I tried to weigh just now, but the room is in use with a patient. I don't think I'm losing as much weight as I had hoped, but I'm sticking to the pre op plan, so my liver should be shrunk and I'll be ready for surgery on Tuesday.

Hey congrats!! I just lost 9 pounds in like maybe a week and a half. I had to or my PCP was gonna be soo mad at me! I just ate oatmeal for breakfast, a yogart for a snack, then a chicken salad for lunch, and maybe soup for dinner. It was SOOOO hard cuz I love sweets, but I cut out all sweets and only drank water. You can do it! Good luck!

My best advice is eat 5 small meals a day healthy, low carb and MOVE.... if you cant do 30 minutes a day at once time do 10 minutes at a time  3 times a day  any exercise..it helps tons!

If you jsut need to do it fast slimfast if my vice in that situation lol

I'm with Donna, replace at least one meal with a at least 30gm protein drink/shake and two meals would be better. Then the rest do low carb, low fat very small meals. You need to start prepping for how you're going to live th rest of your life.  I lost 10 lbs a month doing this by the by.
