XPost: Calling Goal - Down 260 Lbs!
Yep - I'm DONE. I had RNY on 12/17/07 at 440 pounds. Twenty-three months, two total knee replacements and a lower body lift, thigh lift and butt augmentation later, I have lost 260 pounds and weigh 180 pounds.
Words can't begin to explain the changes in my life. The road hasn't been easy by any means, but I tried to keep it as simple as I could by just concentrating on the next step - the BIG picture scared the daylights out of me. I treat my love of food like an addiction - I'm just like the broken down, homeless drunk under the bridge, except I eat food - LOTS and LOTS of food.
I used to be on high BP meds, now my BP is 102/62. My cholesterol is in the 120's - my doctor tells me it's lower than his and to get out of his office! The lost weight allowed me to get new knees and my new knees allow me to do just about anything! I've been snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, biking, cross country skiing and all sorts of other stuff. I don't know which I appreciate more, my RNY or my new knees.
Here is a before and after. Please excuse the Bozo hair in the after. My hair fell out and came back as thick as ever and uber curly! Now if my hair gets too long, it turns freaky on me.
I had plastic surgery six weeks ago and this was taken about two weeks ago. I'm having some serious incision issues so in the picture (and still today!) I'm somewhat swollen and packed and bandaged at my hips and tummy.
Please feel free to ask me any questions or PM me - we're all in this together.
Be Well,
Jana

Holy Moly. You are a totally different woman. I went to your site to see the photos. CONGRATULATIONS. You have a sweet daughter and she will enjoy having a Mom with new knees and a new body. You are an inspiration.
I need a new shoulder. UGH. It's going to have to wait until I have the wt loss surgery......

Congratulations, Jana! You have done so well! I am at least a year away from plastics, but I have started my PS fund. With 2 kids in college, and my "Money Pit" house needing lots of repairs, my fund isn't growing very quickly! I still would like to lose another 30 # in the next year. The weight loss is very slow now, but I know what works for me: staying focused, getting enough sleep, exercising 5-6 days a week, eating enough protein, and not getting too obsessed with the scale. It is great to hear from people who are farther out than me. I have come to this board more recently. I feel like I finally found my "peeps" here. I still am working on the same food addiction issues that I started with: I guess it was really naive on my part to think that WLS would fix my brain!!!
I hope you heal quickly from your surgeries!
