Question about BCBS of AL.....

Hi all,

My question is pretty simple;  Has anyone out there had BCBS of AL, and could you please tell me how your expiernce was? Is is hard to get approved through them, and could you give me pointers to make my approval process easier? I have been trying to do some research and I am having a hard time finding anything about it on this site. Thanks so much.....

I don't have any answers to your questions. But I wanted to share.

When I first got any traction on pursuing WLS I had lots of questions about my insurance. I tried calling the insurance company, but that was a nightmare. Everyone I talked to had a different story. I did searches on OH and really didn't come up with much. I posted everywhere -- not much in response.

Post in the Texas and Alabama forums here on OH. Try googling stuff. There might be people with blogs outside of OH who share their experiences.

You might try a real world support group in your area. Or contact your surgeon's office (if you have one) and talk to their insurance person.

By the way, what did you end up doing for Halloween?

Hey Patti thanks for your response. I will do that! For halloween we had a play at church, but if your talking about the costume thing that wont be until the end of the year. And we are STILL not sure what to go as!! *sigh* we will figure it out sometime! LOL

 I can comment on BCBS of AL but Van comment on BCBS of RI and insurance was not a problem once I had my Dr/s in agreement the insurance was not a problem but I had both the high BMI and a comorbidity and the Dr. included my family history that pointed to much higher outlay for them if I did not loose weight....  Sometimes I think it is your specific plan that can impact it, others with BCBS have had different outcomes in the same state.
