Hunger has returned!

I've had my share of head hunger, but a lot of times I only remember to eat because I glance at the clock or I'm getting a hunger headache.

But very early this morning, I had real hunger.

I went to bed early last night because I've been fighting a cold. I woke up at 4 to pee and ta da -- there it was, complete with growling from my pouch.

I ate about 6 almonds. That seemed to quiet it down. Usually, I would've just taken a couple of calcium tabs, because they fill me up -- but Thursday morning is when I refill my pill box.

And I thought I was going to get off easy!!!!

Oh, well.

Yikes!  I dread that moment.  So far, not hungry.  Ever.  And that is so nice.

My brother, who had the RNY 5 years ago, says even if you get hungry with our tool, you don't need much to be satisfied!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

Oh, well. It does return for most people. Remember, your hunger is not an emergency and it is not the boss of you!

Stay strong, sister! :)

I too have the growling pouch, lol. In the beginning I wasn't sure what it was because it doesn't feel the same as it used too. And it doesn't take a lot to calm it down, usually a spoonful or two and I'm good. It doesn't happen every day either, I still have days when I don't want to eat at all but usually I get cranky or feel very weak if I don't. It's still nothing like before the surgery though, when I could eat a hoagie, Doritos, a soda and dessert to top it off! lol

I think my non pouch sealed off stomach area growls!  It's hungry but I can't feel it.  Lol (Thank god)  I have issues with head hunger but no real hunger yet.  Head hunger gets a million times worse when I am PMS-ing.

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!

Hey Mojave Patti:

Just wanted to say Hi.

I was a "Mojave Mustang" a L O N G time ago (1958).  I was in the marching band (I played Souzaphone), and in High School ROTC.  I also worked full time at White's Cafe (which is no longer there).  The local newspaper had a picture of me riding my bike home, playing the Souzaphone as I rode.

I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy, and I can honestly say I never get hungry unless I have not eaten anything for at least 16 hours.

I have taken off 160.5 pounds in 13 months, and it has basically been pretty easy.  I walk for exercise (and that's all the exercise that I do).

Not too bad for a 66 year old "couch potato".

A former Army Medic (1959-1969), Registered Nurse (1969-2000), College Instructor (1984-1989) and a retired Rehabilitation Counselor.  I am also a dual citizen of the USA and Canada.

High Weight 412 lbs.                    Date of Surgery 360.5                                 Present  170 lbs

I always wanted to eat at White's Cafe -- never got the chance.

Two years ago someone bought White's Hotel and refurbished it. But then they took down the gorgeous old neon sign and put up a Day's Inn sign.

Glad you're doing so well with your sleeve!

Take care,
