HI ALL,

I AM 25 LBS FROM GOAL BUT I AM TERRIFIED ABOUT GAINING THE WEIGHT BACK BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS DONE IN THE PAST.

BUT MY QUESTION IS WHAT DO I DO NEXT?  HOW DO I KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF? I HAVE BEEN EATING A LOW AMOUNT OF CALORIES TO GET THE WEIGHT OFF, SO NOW SHOULD I EAT THE SUGGESTED BMR? I KNOW I NEED TO EXERCISE BUT I DONT WANT TO EXERCISE AS MUCH AS I DO NOW.  5 DAYS A WEEK FOR 45 MINUTES IS A LOT.

I GOTTA TELL YOU THAT MY FEAR OF GAINING THE WEIGHT BACK OUT WEIGHS THE FEARS OF THE SURGERY AND THE WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY.

I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS.   THANK YOU

Fear is a very good thing!

Maintain that fear, follow your rules, and keep doing what your doing.

You've done great and having fear means you care enough about yourself to never go back.

I still have a fear, and because of that I do not allow myself to eat certain things, knowing that they may trigger something I can't stop.

The fear is always there and I hope always will be. The day I'm confidant I won't ever gain weight back is the day it's all over and I've failed in my opinion.
After surgery loosing the weight can be fast and easy, maintaining the weight loss is hard work and something you have to do for the rest of your life. It's a never ending struggle.

JAN,
THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE, I THINK IT IS GREAT.  I KNOW I CAN NEVER GET CONFIDENT ABOUT MY WEIGHT LOSS.  AS FOR TRIGGER FOODS ITS CARBS, BREAD, BREAD BREAD.  I WOULD TRADE A GOOD STEAK FOR SOME FRESH BAKED BREAD.

Just remember the more carbs you eat the more your body craves them.

Protien first, followed by veggies or fruit, then startchy carbs, if I have room, that's the rule I follow.

FEAR is my FRIEND. I log in here and look at this when I start to think I don't need to be scared anymore.

Photobucket  ME at about 400 lbs...just after my RNY.

It keeps me moving to lose even when I feel lazy about it or screw up and eat something "bad".

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!

Hi Stella,

I have added you to friends list (I hope).  I am not the best a navigating through the site,  I have not been successful uplodading photos or setting up a weight loss ticker even though I tried.

Anyhow I thank you for extending your support to my journey!

Fear has negative connotations, but it's also got it's good side! Complacency with weight loss leads to BACKSLIDING to old food behaviors and WEIGHT REGAIN.

I keep up the weekly weigh-ins, I track my food, I get my water in and I take my supplements. I know that doing this will keep me healthy and happier than I was when I was 292 and eating an entire box of Hostess brand chocolate Donettes!!

My advice is to continue your exercise regime, but switch it up a little so that you don't get bored. Do some walking, some running, biking, rowing, swimming, whatever. The important thing is to MOVE. Activity is GREAT for your heart, keeps your arteries clear, and improves your high density lipoproteins (the "good" cholesterol in your blood). It also "turns on" your metabolism and helps you to burn more calories just sitting around. :)

You will need to work in concert with your body, once you've reached your goal, to find the right balance of intake and activity. It's like learning how to surf--sometimes you lean forward, sometimes back, sometimes side to side! The main thing is to RIDE THE WAVE!!

Keep us posted!

Waterwench,
Thank you for the advice it was very inspiring.  Since you have reached your goal awhile back came you tell how many calories do you allow yourself  for your maintenance each day and how did you arrive at?  I have a BMR calculator that I was thinking of using once I reach my goal.  Also does your pouch still help you with your quantities of food or is it at the point where it is all on your willpower?
