Try to be positive!!

I really don't know anything about Medicaid. You may get an answer quicker in the Illinois forum.

But I'd imagine that if they cover it for someone who has a BMI of 40, they'd do it for someone with a 50.

Edited because I have verb issues (and I'm a writer of all things!)

I see that you live in Illinois, too. Illinois Medicaid no longer requires a prior authorization for weight loss surgery! I found that out in Sept. when they sent my paperwork in.  You are just fine since there is no prior authorization needed here in Illinois anymore!  Might want to call your surgeons office and ask about that.  It took Medicaid about 3 weeks to get back to my surgeon and tell them that they didn't need to do a prior authorization anymore.  Medicaid still sent me an approval letter though.  I'm having a DS and that is usually a more difficult surgery to get covered and everything still went smoothly for me. Let us know what the surgeons office says!
