Rant of the day, lol.

So.  I'm down alot and still a size 3x/4x.  Some people may be at that point and think "Wow, I'm a 3x/4x, I have to do something and lose all this weight!", meanwhile I'm like "Woohoo!  I'm a 3x/4x.  Awesome!"  I'm totally ok with it.  Then there's times when I'm at the gym and someone assumes I must just be starting out and there like "oh... just keep it at, you'll start to see a difference".."watch your diet, do you eat alot of fried foods?"... like um, I've lost 217 lbs pounds, I know what to do thanks.  I mean, I know they have no idea, so then I tell them and I swear sometimes they don't believe me or I feel like they think I'm trying to say wow I'm so super spectacular (well, I am, duh ;o).  At least they usually shut up then but whatever, lol.

And what's the deal with the clothing sizes in stores? (that sounded very Seinfeld-esque)  I can try on a 26 in jeans at Avenue and I think I could almost do a 24 and then I go into Walmart or a high-end anchor mall store and can't even get a 26 up my thighs!  That's in-sane.

Speaking of the gym, I sure haven't lost alot more weight, but man alive it must be true about muscle weighing more than fat because I know I am waaay smaller.  I thought it was just a myth.  It's so funny now too, because I can feel muscle under my piles of skin that I never felt before.  I feel freaky, but I find myself feeling my arms and legs alot.  Stroking my muscles, lol.  Now, if I could just find a nice superhunk to do the same...lol, but I digress.

Well, that was special.  Nothing like starting the morning off with a clear chest!  Have a Happy Halloween and be safe.  Tonight I become Cleo-phat-ra!

;o)

Good for you! That is very exciting.

As far as the muscle/fat thing.. a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat silly :P Muscle takes up less room than fat though hehehehe.

Ha, that was like one of those trick math questions then.  I am so mathmatically impulsive!  Hey, I'll take smaller any day, lol.  Um, how much does a pound of candycorn weigh?  Kidding!

Hey Cleopatra, maybe you need to wear a T shirt at the gym with your before pic on it. That might shut some of them up. I hate to be patronized. I have a little girl voice and probably some subservient mannerisms and people ROUTINELY call me "honey" or something like that. This isn't the south; this is the midwest and other women aren't called "sweetie." Ticks me off. I am FIFTY SEVEN years old. Sheesh.

On the other hand, I do have a deep seated need for everyone to feel comfortable and happy so I tend to NOT tell others off when they patronize me. I guess I'm sending off "sweetie" vibes.

Very cool that you are building muscles.  Be strong and show the others you are NO amateur. You are a PRO!!!!

I just ordered some waterproof eyeliner from QVC. I hope to have modified Cleopatra eyes when it comes in!!!

Right?!  I will be ordering that shirt on the double.  Proof for the jerks, LOL  You go find that inner Cleopatra!  Thanks for the reply.  Oh, and add "hun" to that list.  Except if it's a cute doctor or something ;o)

I recommend orthopedic surgeons. I think they are the hottest as a group. (I'm a nurse; I know these things...) I recently went to one to get my shoulder fixed and first I had a hot resident, then a hot PT guy, then a hot PA, and the grand finale was the actual surgeon. It was a good looking guy fest and they were fascinated by my shoulder. My body hasn't had that much attention EVER.

The ending was a bumer, though, I have end stage arthritis in my shoulder and need it replaced, but that's not good surgery yet, so I have to life with it. Bummer. Major bummer, but I have to say, I enjoyed the show. THEY could have called me anything! :)

People at the gym have no clue about what people who are SMO go through.  Some people should think before they talk and not make assumptions about where you are at.  I looked at your before pictures on your profile and you have come so far and you should be so proud of that.  Don't let idiots get you down.  I've gotten a lot of advice about eating the proper amount of protein from people who don't even know where I am at.

I am 4 pounds away from 200 pounds total lost from my heaviest weight and while my BMI was at 64 when I had my surgery, I have just ventured to the upstairs of my gym about 40 pounds ago.  Even then people would tell me to hang in there and I would see results.  I just would tell them what I have already done and that WLS is not the cure all--it is a tool.  A tool like a computer is to do your job or any other techno device that will enhance your job.

At the beginning, I was too big for Catherine's biggest sizes.  I was in the 5x-6x clothing that had to be ordered from catalogs.  It wasn't until I lost 50 pounds that a size 34 from Catherine's fit and the sizes dropped when my exercise increased and it dropped quick.  I am a real consumer of Goodwill and consignment shops because my sizes dropped so quickly that I could try something on and it would fall off of me.

Over the last almost 16 months, I have dropped from 5-6x to a good size 20, some 18's and there are 18's that won't fit up my thighs but I know I will get there.  I can fit into XL tops now and what I am having trouble with is getting things too big.  It is, however, ridiculous that you can go to Catherine's or Lane Bryant and have one size fit and go to Wal Mart and have those jeans not fit.  You will eventually get to the point where you target on what fits best and go with that.  I haven't lost much weight in the last few months but I have gone down almost 2 sizes.

Best to you.

I agree about the lame sizing of women's clothes.  So annoying.  I am trying to get a long simple fitted skirt on line and I have NO IDEA what size to order.  My Levi's are 16's, but I have Wal Mart jean 18's!   I also wear an alleged 3x cheapo skirt from DOTS that fits fine.   WTH?  Lol.

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!
