Do you have a wierd trigger food?

Even with the office awash in fun size candy bars, I have no desire to have even one (and I could probably eat one without dumping -- takes a lot for me to dump). There is most of a quart of full fat/sugar chocolate chip ice cream in my freezer right now and I could care less.

But I had an encounter the other day, with my true nemesis: SALTINE CRACKERS. They are pure evvviiiilllll for me!!

I stopped after about six, but it was only because the sleeve was empty. (I did eat a about 1/2 cup of tuna with them, but....)

I think it's because they were my number one comfort food when I was a kid. I'd come home from school and slather them with PB. And if we were out of PB, I'd just eat a whole sleeve sitting on the couch watching Brady Bunch reruns before my mom got home from work.

Anyone else have a trigger food that's in every stinkin' pantry in the country?

I love crackers too! Especially chicken in a biscuit! the problem with them is that they are so light you can have a ton of them before you realize the whole thing is gone!

I have been wanting chocolate lately, I would have to say that is my comfort food. I miss it.

I was talking to another friend who is considering wt loss surgery. We both share your weakness for crackers only we like a little diet butter on them. I like almost ANY cracker. They can get me in REAL trouble. Whenever I have a salad, which is often, I want CRACKERS with it.

I've stayed away from the candy bars this year too. 2 yrs ago I gained 15 lbs on them. I just kept buying them and eating them at work. Sheesh.

I'm sort of buying into the "sugar is evil" thing. I'm old so I'm thinking about my heart and possible diabetes, so I'm staying off MOST sugar.

I never got the butter/margarine on crackers thing. I like them straight or with PB or tuna salad.

My mother is a total butter addict. We were really worried for a while because she was using a stick every two days or so. Then we figured out one of the dogs was levitating up the table and eating it. (The little beagle kept getting more and more shaped like a stick of butter.)

It's good to think that sugar is evil. It takes a lot for me to dump, so I can handle more than some. But if I do have it, whatever I'm eating is totally loaded with fiber and/or protein.

I am also becoming a compulsive label reader. High fructose corn syrup only comes into my house in extremely limited quantities.

My partner loves sweets, so they are always in the house...couldnt care less.  Cake can sit on the counter and go bad, I just dont want it.  But let there be cheese somewhere, and its torture.  The only reasons I dont over eat when it comes to cheese is because, physically, I cant...and well, the obvious reason, it kinda stops me up, and I need NO help in that department. Constipation is a consant battle for me.  But there are days that I still eat too much cheese.
However, its alot less now than it use to be, as I'm sure it is with everyones tigger foods.

Cake on the counter where you live, huh? What's your address? Just kidding!! Baked goods are another problem food for me. I can talk myself out of the cheap crap from the grocery store or a factory. But if it's homemade, or comes from a real bakery, and really good, I'm better off not being in the same building with it.

MMMMMM, CHEESE!!

I find myself having a hard time accepting that cheese might have a part in my diet.

Naturally, I love it. But I have years of conditioning from Weigh****chers where fat is the worst possible evil so therefore cheese is forbidden.

With this cheese is okay idea (because it has protein in it), it's getting easier and easier for me to eat it. Compared to preop, I'm practically binging ---two days ago I had a small chunk of cheddar, I had string cheese yesterday and today. Right now I'm fantasizing about the mystery melted cheese they use in the enchiladas at our favorite Mexican joint. (Part of that might be that I'm freezing.)

Hope I didn't point you toward an unplanned cheese fest!!

Cake on the counter? - I could ignore it depending on the kind. Carrot cake has no chance.

My DH buys treats for himself and our son. Usually if they are out of sight I'm OK, but lately I'm struggling, esp when he buys chocolate chip cookies from the bakery.

I noticed this same problem last fall too - I think as it gets colder we struggle more with whatever our former comfort/trigger foods were. My problem is that I have too MANY!

I'm less tempted by sweets than bready carbs. Lately I've been mugged by sourdough bread. Craving spaghetti.

My office had a Halloween feeding frenzy yesterday. I worked from home to avoid the temptation. Am I a food addict forever?

We had pizza and homemade cake for lunch at work and then MORE cake because someone was leaving at work. I went in to be sociable after most of the eating was done. I had my frozen meal and an apple. I was good and self righteous, but evidently the tension was building up in me because yesterday afternoon I followed my boss into his office and told him he was an idiot. He is; he's the dumbest man I've ever met, but this was NOT the best career move. So......working from home sounds like a GOOD idea to me, Patty!

I will probably keep my job, but will food always agitate us? I'm thinking it will. At least this year I didn't buy and consume at least 10 bags of mini candy bars like I did 2 yrs ago. That was a BAD October.....

Isn't it quite a behavior change to see all the Halloween candy marked down and not think "gotta stock up?" Even my hubby is starting to understand that it's no bargain.
