Patsy's RNY didn't happen (repost from CA)
I am sorry to report that when Dr. LaPort opened Patsy up for her RNY, he found a huge hernia with her intestines somehow all caught up in it. He patched it, but also found spots on her liver that have to be biopsied. So he cloded her up (and it wasn't laproscopic) without performing the RNY. So Patsy is okay, but feeling very down.
If anyone knows of anyone else who had something like this happen, please let me know, so I can pass along what it might all mean. In the meantime, send good vibes and wishes and prayers her way.
I don't know how long she will be in the hospital She just got back to her room a half an hour ago. I will keep you posted.
Thanks for being there for her,
Nancy

Best wishes and good vibes going out.
I've heard recently of a few folks having the same outcome of the surgery starting but halting due to unforseen problems.
While it's a horrible disappointment, it's still a step toward better health. The hernia is taken care of and potential liver problems are being addressed.
Hug Patsy for me and tell her that perhaps this is a blessing in disguise. She can get the liver issues addressed and contine on from there.

That has got to be horribly disappointing! I'm so sorry.
There's a lady on the RNY board who goes by the handle "kayakinbum" who had surgery last week and the surgeon said her small intestines are "too short" for the RNY procedure. She also woke up from anesthesia to find that her RNY wasn't done. She weighs about 368lbs and is now going to the surgeon to discuss other options, but it looks like she may need to go with the lapband.
Hope all works out for each of these ladies.
