x-post to RNY board - My RNY Surgery Failed

Laura, that is just so awful.  I feel so sad for you.  After being so brave to have all those tests that frightened you with the needles, it is so unfair.  Like everyone else said, give yourself some time to adjust to what happened, but know you are strong enough to continue on this journey.

I had my VSG on Tuesday.  Have you checked about that one.  There is no rerouting of the intestines.  They cut out 85% of your stomach and leave you what my doc described as "a slender banana".  I have only 4 port sites and a drain site.  Yes, once you do that there is no going back so it can seem scary.  But I have had no complications whatsoever so far.  All the docs said my surgery went great.  I had it laprascopically at a BMI of 63.7.  I know they had some concerns about that, but they said they had no problems.

Like Ronda said, there is also the lap band.  I have history of infections so I did not want a foreign object in me and I think dealing with the fills could be a pain and an added expense.  But I am sure there are many people who had the band and love it.

Stay strong, you have come to far to give up.  You have many options.  We will all be here to support you.

Love and hugs, Donna
