Hello all.

Just wanted to stop by and let you know that I made it through surgery and am doing well. I had some tests today, upper GI and cat scan to make sure there are no leaks and that there is no fluid or air in my old stomach and all is well. I got the go ahead to start my liquid diet.

I have done 5 laps around the floor so far and hope to do another 5 before the end of the night. Man oh man does that wipe me out, but I need it since I have not passed any gas yet.. only burps and that is the majority of my pain right now.

They took my cath out and will also take my IV and pain pump (when they remember but Im not in a hurry to remind them ;) I will also have a shower tonight!

Aside from being so tired that I just randomly fall asleep, I feel totally human. Right now, I feel pretty good.

YaY, Crystal, sounds like you're healing just fine at this very early post-op stage! Congratulations on having the courage to undergo this life-changing procedure and get ready to reap the benefits of the tool we've been given! Glad to hear you're feeling human so quickly; you're on your way! Make sure to post & let us know how you're doing!

Thank you all for your support!

Mary, I was hoping to hear from you! I am glad your surgery went well. Did you have issues being awake at 12am? I think ive rested so much that my body is just finished for right now. Ill sleep when Im tired right? I didnt realize how much my pain pump helped me sleep. Now I get the liquid  pain meds every 4 hours. They help a little bit but not as much.

Crystal - I have had sleeping issues since the surgery.  Each night it gets a bit better.  I got up about 2:00 am. a couple of  times and sat up for a while and went back to bed.  I'm told it's totally normal and gets better.  I agree on the pain meds, they helped me sleep, but a little pain isn't too bad.  That's what I have now - just a little pain.  I can handle that.
