Still trying to lose weight pre-op.
Doris,
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!! Remember that and lean on other people when you feel hopeless. I know that sometimes it is hard to find people to lean on and get support ...even on here...but you can not give up. I have let myself give into the depression no matter how much I was trying not to . I'm still waiting and trying to lose weight except I started going the other way. I am still told I can not get the DS because of the hernia , just the Vsg, but I want to lose weight so that I can get the DS in one shot.
My point in responding is that I yo yo back and forth not just in the weight but in my mindset. I know that I need to just do this on my own by journaling, talking to myself, what ever it takes , but I refuse to give up. I'm having all sorts of hormonal testing because the endocrinologist and the surgeon feels that my testosterone is through the roof. They both tell me that this could be , along with pcos , the reason for not losing.
Please talk to your PCP and see if you can get tested if not see an endocrinologist. You ARE NOT hopeless. We will have this surgery someday. PM me any time you feel like. Hugs!

Hi Doris...
We all know what you're going thru. We've all been there, and done or doing that.
3lbs is 3lbs gone!! YAY!! Celebrate that instead of saying "only". It's a small victory in a long line of small victories!!
Try keeping the big picture in mind. I so know how you feel. All the nights I went to bed hungry and feeling like it would never happen...was really hard. All the times that the hunger won and I ate alot of somethings I wasnt suppose to..was really hard. But when I fell down, I just got back up and tried again. Usually pissed off and grumpy about it, but I started again.
I'm the laziest woman in America, and if I can do it, so can you! Fill up on veggies, 4 oz's of protein and lots of water. When I started at 423 I was on a 1300 calorie diet...about 2 months into that, I dropped it to 1000 or less a day. I ate alot of veggies! LOL! And I factored in "cheat" days. Thats what saved me during the week. Knowing that I had one day where I could eat something I realllllly loved. Write everything down...its easy to keep track of you calorie count, and you can figure out wether or not that cheeseburger fits in that day..lol.

I am rooting for you.. just as others!

i guess im in on this little party too. if all my tests come back clean, i will be having my rny in about 6 weeks. i was given a requirement to lose 19 lbs of which i have only lost 3.... in 3.5 months! i will not postpone my suregery one day longer than i have to so these last few weeks are all about getting to that first goal.
start your post-surgery diet now.... yeah you dont have to but it cant hurt. i will begin this after my next appointment so i can start getting used to things now.... less torment and perceived deprivation later. ;)
check OH or other forums often.... the before and after photos is what is currently keeping my spirits up. if i can stare at an 'after' shot that will keep the garbage out of my mouth for a while then YAY!
make a friend.... my real life bff just had her surgery last week so ive been calling her like every night to chat for a few hours. i know it helps keep my head where it needs to be and im sure it does the same for her.
check out other support groups.... surgery is a tool that will fix your body but not your head. you will still have to fight the demons that led you to where you are. try overeaters anonymous for starters then look for something more personal and basic... perhaps it is childhood abuse or a chemical imbalance etc.
good luck to you and all of us!!

Start with smaller changes that you know you should be able to master. Here are some ideas. All are aimed at improving your health. When you start to get healthier and have some success, it gets easier to stay motivated.
Like start drinking lots of water to hydrate yourself. Plus if you drink before a meal, it will take lessto make you feeel full.
Start taking a good vitamin too. It makes me feel peppier.
Are you getting enough sleep? Not inactivity, but actual sleep? I lose better when I get 7-8 hours.
