Hello Everyone... I'm pre-op. My name is Chevy (Becky) and am planning on having RNY. Just found out yesterday what I thought was going to be a whole year wait is only going to be 6 months! Yea! I have medicaid so I have to have legal documentation of seeing a dietitian for 6 months for medicaid to approve. So here I am... I have a BMI of 58 I'm @ 307 lbs and only 5'1. I have no cartlidge left in my knees so I can only stand about 5 mins and then I have severe pain. So walking right now is out of the question. I bought a resistance chair that I can use for exercising from my hips up. I'm hoping this will help with sagging skin on my arms. I have my first appt. next week Oct. 2nd. In the meantime I will be here on the boards reading and seeing what info I can find out on everything to do with surgery....

See ya on the boards, Chevy

Welcome!

Use your six months to learn as much as you can!! OH is a great resource.

Hello Chevy and Welcome!
How nice that it is 1/2 the time that you anticipated!   Those 6 months will fly by!!  Like mentioned in the post above, gives you time to study these boards!!  I have been completely addicted to these boards! LOL Especially looking at before and after pictures!  Remember to keep a open mind when reading posts from  the boards... every journey is different, every diet seems to be different, the losses, etc.  Your journey will be unique to you!  At least that is what I have been telling myself.
God Bless!

WELCOME, Chevy. I'm sorry about your knee. I have arthritis problems too, but, surprisingly my worst joint is my right shoulder. Bummer. I'm glad you found a way to burn calories using a bike.
I started out with a BMI of 59 and hope to have a lap band soon. I'm ready to be thinner. I realized that I'm carrying around the weight of a whole other adult woman every time I move. No wonder I feel so tired. I'd like to get to where I'm just lugging around ONE of me.

Blessings and thanks for letting me know that pedicures are GOOD things. I'm looking for non food  ways to enjoy life.
Food is for sissies. REAL women exist on skim milk, protein powder, broth and air.....
