Hey everyone I normally post in the CA and VSG board so Hi to all and I was hoping if any of you have  had the VSG you could tell me how you are doing post-op. I know that the weight loss takes longer just because we have so much to loose so I am curious how its going. Also did anyone have any complications for their wls due to the high bmi (any type of wls). Thanks for sharing

Hi 482 (cant bring myself to say Hi hi**o),  I am still preop, but having a VSG on 9/29 so if you want to keep on checking in here I am sure I will be having lots to say about it in the months to come.   Also, I sometimes check out  "VSGrs With 150 Or More To Go".  This is the direct link

Thanks for that link that will really help. And I know the Hippo thing seems like a touchy subject but they have been my favorite animals for as long as I can remember so it's a screen name I have used for years. Thanks again

I had the VSG last year..it will be a year on the 22nd.  I am doing great and I LOVE my sleeve.  Everyday is better than the last and I just can't get over how wonderful the change has been.

I had no complications...everything has been great. I see my surgeon 10/1 and nutritionist on 9/23.  Can't wait to see if they are as happy as I am.

Good luck!

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey.  I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.

My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once.  I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.

Jobsies, you had your surgery 1 year ago.  You have done AMAZING!  You shall be my new VSG role model.  My doc was saying she thought the sleeve would help me to lose 150 and then I could get revision but I would prefer to stay with just the sleeve and you give me hope!  Thanks!

CONGRATS ON ALL YOUR HARD WORK!

Thanks Donna,
You are too kind.  My surgeon said the same, let's do the sleeve and then we can do the "second" part of the DS.  When I asked him about it the last time I saw him, he just laughed and said why bother with as well as you are doing...

Now, I just need to get the money together to be able to have skin removed next year!! :)

Good luck to you on your journey..it's going to be a great ride.

Hip...when I started this journey, my goal was to be 299. I just wanted to be able to say 2something..to me that was normal.  My surgeon, smiled and said he was sure that would be possible.

When I hit 299, I was so excited...and now I am so close to being under 250--something I never thought possible, I can't imagine not getting under 200.  I was 200 exactly when I started 8th grade!! To weight less than my entire HS career? OMG.

I don't know if I'll ever get down to 145(which would be the highest part of the 'normal' bmi) but as long as the scale keeps going down and I am "normally" heavy and not a freak of nature I am happy.  I try not to stress over how quick I'm losing (right now I average 2-3 pounds a week), I just stick to my nutritionist's guidelines and make sure I exercise 4-5 times a week.

Good luck on your journey and never ever listen to what you see in the mirror!

Hey Hipster,
I had the VSG on June 1, 2009, so I am about three months out and my life has changed dramatically. I am down 87 pounds and I can walk without huffing and puffing. I enjoy my job more, my life more, and I go places now with my family and friends, something I didn't do when I was a big as a house. I love my life now and I consider this surgery my greatest gift to myself. I look forward to seeing you progress in the same manner and finding the true treasures in life. You will do great.

Toni
