Am I nuts to be happy -150#still 325

If you feel better you are right to be happy. I'd still qualify for surgery too. I hang in the 240-250 range and have for a year now. Its not going lower and its been hard to face but still, that's 200lbs I said goodbye to.

And genetics DOES play a part in it. Its not the only thing but YES IT DOES. I spend nearly every day of my life reading about and working on genomes/genetics and there are many articles related to body mass and genetics. Your genes predispose you to many different problems, and the hazards in your lifestyle increase the risks. What you deem as success is between you, your doc, and your family. There is no doubt that you improved your situation so be happy.

Age plays a big part too!

A person's body burns calories slower every decade, up 10% slower after age 20.  So with our age we aren't going to be able to burn calories as much as someone in their 20's or 30's.  Your height and bone structure also play a part in your "normal" body weight.
