Hi Everyone....I am a newbie and feel like I am at home!!
I have been on OH for a while now but I just do not see many people that is in the same area of weight as I am. Until I came to the BMI over 50, I was like OMG this is home. My surgery was on 07/29 and I have lost only 18lbs. I think this is a slow weight loss and I was looking for it to be a little bit more. I am now 319lbs and I am hoping to be under 300s by end of September. Can anyone give me some encouraging or advice on how I can start moving the weight. I am walking 2 miles every morning, I am getting in 60 grams or more proteins and I am taking my vitamins. I just join CURVES this week to get in some extra exercising. I have been at 319 for the last 5 days so I am hoping that I am not in a stall. Please help!
Welcome to this Board. I like the folks here. Congrats on the weight loss. I'm pre op and having a lap band, not RNY, so I'll let others give suggestions. I don't think you are stalled out until you go weeks without a loss. I think weight seems to come off in chunks. I don't know why.
Sounds to me like you are doing all the right things, so I'm thinking just believing in the process is needed and not getting discouraged or self destructive. Keep on keeping on. You are on your way.

Hello,
I had surgery the day before you did and I have lost a total of 22lbs, so we are both around the same amount. Nineteen pounds is a lot of weight to loose in 3 1/2 weeks, you should be proud of yourself! Right now your body is panicking, thinking you are starving yourself, so it is holding onto what it is getting. Just keep up the good work and the weight will continue to come off. From what I've read on here most people experience this. Good luck on your journey!!

I didnt have RNY, but I know what you are going through. I stalled about 1 mth out from surgery. I stalled for a whole week, and then I dropped 10 lbs in a week. Just take your time, keep doing what you are supposed to, and the weight will start to drop off again. By the way 18lbs in 3 weeks is GREAT........and you know that. You are doing wonderful, dont forget to put up new pics.
P.S. Dont forget to shake the haters off. Dont let them bother you, they are just doing their jobs...................MOTIVATING YOU!
you are doing good. just continue getting your protein in and the excercise and your liquids and you will see the weight come off agian. 18lbs is a lot for your body to handle in 3 weeks let it catch up and you will wake up one morning get on the scale and have lost a big chunk again. so keep your head up and keep doing what you are doing,
Sabrenia,
You, darlin, are my inspiration!!! I started at 347, so I was a bit heavier than you (so u are not alone, my dear!!!) I am so impressed with your discipline. The fact that you are walking 2 miles EVERYDAY!!! - is nothing short of spectacular. (I have really tried to push my body...but it's just not ready for that kinda walking yet). I was sitting down watching TV (on my butt) when I read this, and it just encouraged me to get up and get moving! (Thanks to u for that!!). Also the fact that u are getting in your protein everyday is super wonderful too. I am so challenged to get in my 62 grams per day. It's been just over 4 weeks for me, and I have lost about 30, but I did most of that in the first 2 weeks. I got super discouraged in week 4 when I had only lost 4lbs...and this week is looking like it's going to be even less. I'm saying this to you to tell you to stay encouraged!!! It took my 17 year old daughter to help me re-focus and see the silver lining...baby I haven't been this small in years!! And stall or not, the body's gonna kick back into gear and do what it's supposed to do as long as I continue to do what I've gotta do!! My surgeon made that promise to me 4 weeks ago on July 21st, and gosh darnnit, I'm gonna hold him to it. So sweetie, keep your head up, stay in touch, and I'll be praying that both our journeys continue to excel!! Be blessed.
