So a little about me first I'm 23 years old married to a wonderful man and I am pre op for an open rny. My journey started on july 18th of this year when I found out that I could finace this operation sense I don't have insureance. On the 18th I weighed in for the first time in years I was 456lbs and a bmi of 67 as of last Tuesday I am 424 and a bmi of just over 62 yup that right I have lost 32lbs and nearly 5 bmi points in one month I feel so awsome! I have to lose 9 more lbs before they will schedule my op date. And 17 lbs before they will actually do the operation. I should be having my operation I hope anyway by the 28th of sept. Well wish me luck! I look forwarf to reading and writing more messages on the bored God bless!

I jus****ched Project Runway last night and one of the fashion designers was named Sweet Pea. Love your photo too. GOOD colors.

That is wonderful that you are losing weight before the surgery. Success leads to MORE success!! It seems like in my life I'm either in a downward spiral or an upward spiral and it's HARD to get turned around when you are down. My upward spiral this time started out with getting new caps on my front teeth. They are gorgeous, if I can brag about myself. So that made me think I could tackle the weight. And I'm feeling very hopeful.

Sounds like your upward journey started with getting some FUNDS. Money is good!! Best of luck. Let us know how you're doing.

Aloha Ruby.....I just wandered into this forum and have to comment on your post. I was 336 when I had my WLS in July of 2006. My good news to you is that I have lost 165 lbs. (in the first year and a half), and am now really quite slender (I'm 5'11" and weigh 165.....I lost half of myself!). You have an excellent adventure ahead of you, and I wish you very best of luck in every step.

Life is so different when you are slim. I also had a panniculectomy about 8 months ago, so my tummy is flat as a pancake. I now wear smalls, 8's in jeans, and no longer have to wear muu muus to cover my hugeness.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Karen, this is amazing to be a size 8. Congrats on the weight loss and the panniculectomy. I'm so glad you are pleased with the results. I truly can't even  imagine being slender. I would love to get out of the 32" long tunics, which BARELY cover the big belly. UGH. I actualy have a decent sense of STYLE about me, not that anyone can tell....

I don't hate myself anymore, though, so I'm feeling good about the surgery and my ability to work with it. I saw a social worker counselor for a few months and she did me a world of good.

Thanks for the encouragement. Blessings to you.
