I am soooo stuck! I had surgery on Feb 11th and lost 78 pounds and now I am stuck stuck stuck!!!

For about 4 weeks now. Trying not to get discouraged but it is hard! I am doing things right and still going to they gym. It is really hard to go to the gym where there are no results to show for the work!

I could just cry!!!!!! Is this it! OMGosh I am so not done loosing!!! There has to be more! I went from 354 to 276 and that's it....

Has or did anybody else get a plateau like this!!!!!

Of course I didn't take measurements before weight loss so...... I don't have that to compare to.....

BLAHRG!!!! GRRRR!!!! WAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

We have all had plateaus. They suck. But remember this: the scale is NOT king. Start over again today. Take down your measurements in your diet journal ("The Dieter's Diary" has a place to put measurements every week. It is awesome.) Only weigh yourself once a week, and remember that clothing, shoes, and food in your stomach ALL WEIGH SOMETHING.

Next, keep on exercising. Think about it this way: How many years did it take you to reach your highest weight? How many years of binge eating, comfort eating, etc., of adding a few extra calories here or there, to get to 354? Well, even with the surgery, you should at least expect an equally long journey to regaining your lost health. Small efforts repeated daily add up to eventual success! Don't lose hope!

And here's another thing: You have successfully foregone, to date, the 273,000 calories that made up the 78 pounds of fat that you have lost. That is EXCELLENT! Never demean your efforts, because you are on the right road.

Maybe this, copied from my blog, will help:

At a Stall or Plateau

I had been at a stall or plateau for a while. While i am losing again
I wanted to post this about stalls I know they can cause us to panic at first but there is no reason to let them upset us.

Pauses in weight loss, or stalls, are a normal part of the bodies adjustment to weight loss. They can last for weeks even months and it is normal. Often you will lose size and not weight for a while. This is the body adjusting and trying to maintain itself. Losing weight is not a normal body function, that is to say that the body does not see weight loss as a good thing. The normal process is for the body to try and stay at a the weight it is at. This is the body's natural form of self preservation for survival. Weight loss is always a forced event. In the wild, animals do not choose to lose weight. Lack of food does. Animal bodies, like our own, try to stay alive through periods of starvation by getting very lean on the fuel, (fat in this case), they burn to get through the lean times in order to stay alive. A few weeks, or even months,of lull may just be a catch up period for the body. If we stay the course we will sooner or later begin losing weight again.

(I really did get past that and other stalls!)

Ok humor break...when I read this post's title all I can think of is that scene on A Christmas Story where the kid gets his tongue stuck to the metal flag pole and yells "STUCK...STUUUUCK...STUUUUUUCK!!!"

Ha ha

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!
