Normal: It's possible. Yeah, it is. No, really!

When I started this journey at 368 pounds (I'm just over 5'4"), I refused to set a goal weight-- I didn't know what would be possible-- what would feel right, what was realistic to expect when you've been obese for 25 years. I figured I'd hit 250 if I was lucky and the rest'd be (fat free) gravy.

My BMI is now 24.69. A BMI under 25 is normal.

So there it is. It's totally possible. Now work yo' asses off! ;)

Wow, you are a NEW person. Congratulations on your success and thanks for the encouragement. My starting weight is near yours. I'm just aiming for 200 now. Even that seems impossible, but I AM willing to work my butt off.

I am an RN and I thought I knew medical terminology but I don't know what a fraxel is.

OK, I just googled Fraxel repair and I see it's a dermatological thing to improve skin. Were you happy with it? My son is marrying a dermatologist next year, so I need to learn the lingo. (I'm hoping for some free skin help eventually!!)

Too bad he's not marrying a plastic surgeon :)

You continue to inspire and guide us all.  If not enough people say so, you are very much appreciated and we all are learning from you.

I am 5'5.5" and started out at 407 at my heaviest with a BMI of 67 and at surgery was 386 with a BMI of 64.  I am down to 222 with a BMI of about 36 (when I calculate I average 5'5 and 5'6).  Setting a goal weight would have been equivalent of asking me to walk to the moon.  I figured if I got to 250 as well, I'd be good and would be fat free gravy or sugar free icing on the cake.  I'm working on the rest and know it won't come off as fast as this initial weight did but I never thought I would lose as much as I did in this last little over a year.  My surgeon never set a goal weight for me either and we discussed it at my one year followup.  He said he would consider me healthy with another 30-35 pounds but I'd want to lose more.

I'm going to be working my ass off (not totally--it is flat and I don't want it to totally disappear) to get this weight off and hit that normal BMI.  It will happen--it is like that little engine that could and, like you said before--YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS.
