That's so AWESOME Valerie!!!  I started bawling in Catherines once.  I know the feeling.  The stuff there didn't even fit me at my highest.  Congrats!  You're doing it  :)

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!

It's all about these small moments, the things that you will be able to do and you will only realize it when you try.....

I was walking down stairs one at a time for months before I realized that I could do it like a normal person...I am in my brother's wedding this sept and buying the dress took 10 minutes, I walked in tried on an 18 ordered it and left, got it and had to have it altered smaller, what a feeling...

Had to go shopping for showers and rehersal dinners, JC penny had 25 outfits in the cart, was so totally over whelmed but figured half of these won't fit right and the other half won't look good, to my surprise, only 2 didn't work and I loved the rest, now what a quandry to pick out 3 of 23....now that is some pressure compared to the 2 outfits that may have been ok at avenue or catherines....

Can I hear a whoot whoot for the small moments!!!!!

Valerie,  I saved my meltdown for a very public area in the dressing room at Kohl's.  I had lost about 250 pounds at that point, and was thinking I'm going to be in this size for a while, so I was buying NEW, not thift stores, and hand me downs   (which was my salvation thru the past 2 years)...but I was buying NEW... I was very excited...and then it hit...    I couldn't tell what size I was so I had grabbed a variety of sizes... and couldn't tell if it fit, if it was too tight, too loose, whatever....major meltdown....  I finally asked the sales girl to help me pick.... she thought this was FUN  (thank God, she didn't think I was a loon)   and I bought so much stuff!   Keep believing!!!  It gets better and better and better...  and the SALES in regular sized stores are great!   Congrats!  Mary C

Aloha Valerie....I'm from Portland, too!! Grew up there....went to Scappoose High School!

You are in for such a fabulous adventure. I, too, was like you and wore 3X's and 26/28 clothing. Living in Hawaii was good because I could wear BIG muu muus and cover up all the fat....Ha.

I now have lost half of myself....165 lbs.....I'm 5'11" tall and am quite slender. I did all my clothing as I lost from thrift stores and had to take them back and replace with smaller every month or so. I lost all my weight....below goal....in about a year and a half. I get so excited when I read stories like yours, because I KNOW what you have ahead of you.....great great WOW moments, and one day you'll look in the mirror and think "who is that slim/trim woman!"

Good luck and keep up the great work. Be sure to take pictures and measure. I wish I had more fat pictures to compare to my skinny ones now. Measure, too. You'll see how the inches melt away.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
