Finally heard from the new insurance
Well for those of you who don't know, I was ready for surgery and already approved by BCBS for the surgery when my husband's company changed insurances on us. I have been in Limbo waiting to hear from the new surgery. Well I finally heard. They are going to allow me to have surgery with the surgeon I choose and the hospital I chose. They told me that normally they require a 6 month telephone coaching from the insurance's program called I can change. They are only going to require 3 months of coaching. Also I have to loose 5% of my body weight during the coaching and keep it off until surgery. I had lost 50lbs with my 6 month diet program I had with BCBS so I thought they would honor that but nope. I have to loose more. I lost from 303lbs to 253lbs and now I have to loose down to 245lbs.. But that was not the big shocker.. With BCBS I had met my annual deductible of $1500.00 and $798.00 of my $2000.00 out of pocket so all I had to come up with upfront for the surgery was $1202.00. The new insurance started on August 1st. I assumed that the deductible and out of pocket would roll over to them.. WRONG.. None of it rolled over. and the worst part is the the amounts have changes.. I now have a $5000.00 deductible and a $7000.00 out of pocket.. I will have to pay the $5000 up front plus the 20% of the remaining amount because the insurance pays 80%. The 20% comes up to $3600.00. So I have 3 months to come up with $8600.00... I guess I am suppose to pull that out of my butt.
I have no idea how we are going to get up that kind of money. I guess I am going to sell everything I own on ebay. Well that is the news I got.. Now I have to start trying to meet their standards.. It just doesn't seem fair since I was right at scheduling surgery when the company changes the insurance out of the blue, and I was only having to come up with $1200.00 not $8600.00 . But I know God is on my side and if this is meant to be it will happen. Back to dieting on cardboard. Thats the pre op diet I lost the 50lbs on. No salt no sugar and low fat. I know it works so I have to just buckle down and get to it. As far as the money situation goes please pray for me. I need a lot of prayers on that account.

Thank you Doris. I really need the prayers.. I have fought insurances and difficluties for 5 years now. It is so hard to be this close and thinking I may not get to have it. I am ready to beg borrow or steal to get the money. Well not steal... lol.. I am not going down without a fight and that means all of Gods warriors fighting too. I am going to do the best I can to get the weight off and raise the money.

Wow, that's bad news on top of bad news. It's really cool, though, that you have succesfully lost the 50 lbs. Once you have surgery, you will already be practiced at this whole eating very little routine. I'll bet you can move around better now. (This is something that I look forward to).
As far as the money, that's a big chunk of change. Yes, I will pray for God to provide it.
It floors me that insurance companies can make random rules and we all have to jump. So sorry.

Thanks for the prayers I'm going to need them. Yes I can move around better now. I can walk now so at least I can exercise. I am able to do many things already that I could not do. It is such a blessing that I have gotten that much off already. Yep thats a lot of money. I know it is worth it though. Just have to try to get it together. Yes insurance companies make random rules and we have to comply no matter what. I should have lost 50 lbs just jumpiong through the hoops... lol
Yes I am glad I am doing the diet so yes I will have a lot easier time after surgery. I hope....

Teresa, that's very cool that you can walk well now. This is VERY encouraging to me that this might be in my future. I agree that, in a just world, we would all be skinny from trying to jump thru all the insurance hoops so many times. Hang in there and maybe SOMEDAY we can get some help with these appetites that keep us unsettled.
Frustrating, isn't it that food is such a terrible temptation? I'm not tempted by other things. They just don't mean much to me, but food has my ATTENTION!!

I will definitely hang in there. yes when I started this weight loss for the surgery I could not hardly walk from one room to the next. Then I moved up to walking to my mailbox. I used to have chairs strategically placed in the yard so I could stop and rest. As the weight came off I was able to walk there and back. I now can walk to my church and back . It is 1/4 mile to the church so I am doing a half mile walk. I would have never believed it. Do I hurt well yes.. I have bad knees and a failed back surgery so yes I hurt. But I am determined. I walk one day and rest the next the walk again the next day. I average 4 times a week. Next thing I will do is increase my walking distance.
I just got a pedometer and a pulse rate ring. I cant wait to get them set and start using them.
I hope you do get to start walking regular. I feel so much better when I walk... The swelling is gone in the legs and all is good. I am getting better at not eating the wrong things. I follow the diet pretty well but now I have to do more than that I will have to start following it to the T. It is not that hard..
I wish you well and good results and happy walking..
