I,m not sure what to do it been 6 months since I was refer to my Surgeon.  It aleast 6 monthe to get to medicare to pay for it.  Should  I ask or pressure my doctor about a surgery date.  He told me to lose 70 pounds before surgery.  But, He has given me.   No help.  My medical  doctor will not give any medication to help me lose weight.  because of my heart and high blood pressure.  I have only lose twelve in two months.  Do you think should ask about a date or lose the weight first.  I don,t think going to happen the way he wants it too.

Doris, my doctor said I had to lose 60 to 80  pounds before my surgery.  I started pursuing the surgery August 2008 and finally just got a date recently for 9/29, but I still have to lose 15 to 20 before then, but I switched to doing only protein shakes.  It will take time to lose 70 pounds.  However, if you are having trouble losing, you could call you docs office and ask them if they have any resources/suggestions to help you lose weight.  I have been seeing a nutritionist once a month in my program while I have been in "limbo", meaning I have done all my other program requirements but cant have surgery until I lose the required weight.  I would not advised trying "to pressure" your doctor.  That will not make anyone very eager to help you.  You know the ole saying "More flies with honey.!"
